Tran Thanh's 'Mai' and 'Nha Ba Nu' compete at Hanoi International Film Festival 2024

The Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) 2024 has the theme Heritage in Motion - Cinema: Creativity - Take Off , expressed through art programs honoring the thousand-year heritage of the capital Hanoi.

According to the Organizing Committee, 2024 is the first year that HANIFF has a theme song composed specifically for the event. This is considered part of the activity of positioning the difference, affirming its position as the oldest film festival in Vietnam, aiming to make HANIFF an international film festival on par with other film festivals in the world .

There will be about 500 films introduced to the capital audience this time. The works come from 40 countries and territories (with developed cinema in the world). Of these, 115 films will compete for the award, including 64 foreign films and 51 Vietnamese films.

Some Vietnamese works participating in HANIFF 2024 include: Mai, Mrs. Nu's House by director Tran Thanh; Meet again the pregnant woman, Dao, pho and piano, Hong Ha nu si, Before the time of 'Love' ... Notably, there will be a series of films screened to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital and a series of films focusing on German cinema.

The festival will have sideline activities such as: Project Market discussion, outdoor film screening, film screening for journalists, photo exhibition, visits to historical sites of the capital...

Regarding the red carpet and opening night on November 7 at Ho Guom Theater (broadcast live on VTV and HTV), the Organizing Committee said there will be artistic performances by the "talents": SooBin Hoang Son, (S) TRONG Trong Hieu, Cuong Seven, Ha Le; "beautiful sisters" My Linh, Uyen Linh, Duong Hoang Yen, "older brother" Pham Anh Duy and many prominent faces such as: Huong Tram, Lam Bao Ngoc, My Anh, Hien VK, Vinh Khuat... In particular, there will be a contemporary music performance combined with a local orchestra with a performance specially staged for HANIFF 2024 by artists from That Theater - Nha Trang.

HANIFF 2024 also features the participation of famous director Zhang Yimou and Korean actors loved in Vietnam such as: Lee Kwang-soo, Shin So-yul, On Ju-wan, Jung Man-sik...

At the closing ceremony, for the first time, at a Film Festival, there will be a light show using drones, with 500 drones creating images of Hanoi's unique cultural heritages and prominent symbols in the new era; along with images honoring Hanoi cinema, Vietnamese cinema from many perspectives.
