In 2024, Typhoon Yagi swept through the North, causing heavy losses in human lives and property. Many people had to live in the open, without homes, their lives were disrupted and they lost their loved ones. Responding to the call for the whole country to join hands to support compatriots affected by Typhoon Yagi, many people in the province contributed and established the group "Sowing seeds of love".

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang, a resident of Rach Gia ward, said that through watching newspapers and radio, seeing people in extremely difficult situations due to the impact of natural disasters, she and her friends founded the group "Sowing seeds of love". The group connects philanthropists and kind-hearted people inside and outside the province, mobilizing necessities and cash. "At first, the group only hoped to mobilize one truckload of about 20 tons of goods, but through mobilizing relatives, friends and on social networks, they were able to support 80 tons of necessities and 240 million VND. This result has motivated the group to continue its activities until now, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and support for people in storm and flood areas," Ms. Hang shared.

To bring goods and necessities directly to the people, the group connected with the Provincial Police Youth Union to transport them to the North, then coordinated with union members, youth and local authorities to deliver them directly to the people. In addition to mobilizing support for people affected by storms and floods, in 2024, the group also mobilized food support for soldiers performing forest fire fighting duties in Vinh Dieu commune, gave gifts to people and children in difficult circumstances; gave warm clothes to children in the highlands... totaling nearly 400 million VND.

In 2025, the group “Sowing seeds of love” organized the donation of 200 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to children in remote areas in the province with a total amount of over 80 million VND. The group continued to mobilize and donate to support people affected by storms and floods in the North and Central regions with 45 tons of goods and 500 million VND.

Participating in contributing, mobilizing and directly going to the Central region to give gifts to people affected by floods, Ms. Nguyen Tran My Thuyen, resident of Rach Gia ward, shared: “Directly participating in relief and giving gifts to people affected by floods, I understand the losses and difficulties they are going through. Many people lost their homes, properties, and their lives were almost empty. Seeing their smiles and tearful eyes when receiving small gifts, I deeply felt the value of sharing and humanity in times of trouble.”

According to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang, the main purpose of establishing the group "Sowing seeds of love" is to mobilize kind hearts to support people in storm and flood areas. After that, the group connected with many benefactors to carry out other social security activities, mainly for children. In the coming time, the group will continue to mobilize support when natural disasters, storms and floods occur, and at the same time organize activities such as giving gifts to children, organizing meals for children in border areas, warm clothes for children in highland areas, etc.

It is expected that in December 2025, the “Sowing Seeds of Love” group will continue to mobilize warm clothes for children in the northern mountainous areas. This activity is not only about sharing material things but also showing love for those in difficult circumstances in remote highlands.
