Recently, the moment a new graduate in his graduation gown knelt down to propose to his girlfriend made the whole Dai Nam University campus burst into laughter. After the proposal, the young couple also received applause and blessings from teachers, friends and everyone.
The image of the young couple’s proposal quickly spread on social media, attracting the attention of the community. Many people congratulated the young couple and jokingly said that it was a case of “graduating with a degree, having a good fate together”.
According to VietNamNet , this proposal took place right after the graduation ceremony of Dai Nam University yesterday, July 10.
The male student in this series of photos is Tong Dai Duc (born in 2001, a new graduate of the Faculty of Business Administration and Marketing of Dai Nam University). Duc's girlfriend is Nguyen Phuong My (born in 2002, and she is Phuong My, a former student of Chinese Language at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, graduated last year).
Sharing the reason for choosing graduation day to "close the deal" in life, Duc said that the idea of proposing to his girlfriend had been cherished for a long time.
“I also thought a lot about this. If I proposed at a restaurant or a coffee shop, it would feel too normal. Birthdays happen every year, but graduation day only happens once in a lifetime. Thinking that way, I wanted this moment to become an unforgettable mark for both of us. Thanks to the support from friends and everyone, I was able to successfully propose to my girlfriend. I also didn't think that everyone would care and support me like that,” Duc said.
Phuong My said she was quite surprised because at first she just thought of attending her boyfriend's graduation ceremony like everyone else to congratulate and encourage his relatives.
“I was quite surprised that my boyfriend chose graduation to propose because Duc is quite clumsy in these things. Accepting the proposal in the middle of a crowd, in such a public way, I was both surprised and touched. Before that, when I attended Duc's graduation ceremony, I saw another male friend bring a big bouquet of flowers to give to a girl and thought everyone was turning on the loudspeaker for the young couple to confess their feelings. I didn't expect that proposal in the middle of the school yard was for me,” My shared.
My said that the two friends met by chance when Duc visited a friend in the same dormitory where she lived (at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, Vinh Phuc province before). Duc used to be an international student in China, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he returned home and decided to change his university environment. Since then, Duc and My have been together for nearly 5 years.
Dai Duc said that his joy was doubled when on the same day he received his university diploma and My's nod and "closed the deal" in life.
The young couple said that they have both found jobs after graduation. My is currently working in import-export at a company in Hanoi and has developed a major in Chinese. Duc is currently applying for a job in quality control at a multi-industry corporation with a branch in Hai Phong .
The young couple plans to replay the images and clips of this moment on the schoolyard on their upcoming wedding day.
