Man Utd earn more money if Antony wins European Cup

(Dan Tri) - Man Utd will receive a large payment from Real Betis if Antony wins the Europa Conference League tonight.

At 2pm tonight, Real Betis will face Chelsea in the Europa Conference League final. Antony is the face expected to help the Andalusian team win the championship.

If Antony wins the title with Real Betis, Man Utd can also be happy as they will be paid a large sum by the Spanish team.

According to the Spanish newspaper ABC, if Real Betis wins the championship, the team will have to pay Man Utd a sum of 306,000 pounds, as part of the loan agreement signed between the two parties. Previously, the Red Devils were also paid 150,000 euros when Real Betis finished 6th in La Liga. Thus, Man Utd is likely to be paid an additional 515,000 euros from the Antony loan deal.

The Brazilian winger has been impressive for Real Betis since joining on loan in January. Antony has scored nine goals and provided five assists for the Spanish club and has quickly become a key figure in their run to the Europa Conference League final.

Antony recently shared in an interview with TNT Sports Brazil: “Moving to Betis changed me a lot. I needed to find myself again. At Man Utd, things were not as I expected. I was no longer interested in football, which I used to love so much. I felt empty, no longer motivated.”

Antony's time at Man Utd caused him to fall into a severe mental crisis. He recounted the days he lived in his room, not eating or drinking and almost despairing, only his family and faith helped him overcome the difficulties.

The Brazilian added: “Only I know what I was going through. I didn’t have the energy to play with my kids, I locked myself in my room all day. Luckily I got through it.”

Antony is in high spirits ahead of the Chelsea game. He scored the winning goal in the 91st minute in the recent win over Espanyol, sending the blue and white fans into a frenzy. Club legend Joaquin even joked: “If you need to kidnap Antony, I will arrange the transportation. Please keep him at Real Betis at all costs.”

Real Betis are desperate to keep Antony but they will face a hefty fee. It is estimated that they will need to spend around £30-35 million to own Antony. In addition, the club will have to bear the player's £200,000-a-week wages.
