Agricultural products, specialties from the garden to the market
The 2024 Mang Yang Ethnic Minority Agricultural Products Market will be held from August 2 to 3 at 3-2 Park (Kon Dong Town, Mang Yang District) with 30 booths. Of which, 8 booths are from Farmers' Associations of districts, towns and cities in the province; 22 booths from Farmers' Associations of communes, towns, cooperatives, and ornamental plant associations in Mang Yang District. The market displays and sells agricultural products, many of which meet VietGAP, organic, OCOP standards, typical agricultural products such as coffee, honey, bird's nest, medicinal herbs, durian, avocado, passion fruit, macadamia, rice, corn, processed foods such as vermicelli, cakes, pickled bamboo shoots... and some woven products with unique characteristics made by ethnic minorities.
Participating in the market for the first time here, Ms. Pham Thi Bich (Dak Ya commune, Mang Yang district) said: “I am both a member of the commune’s farmers’ association and a professional buyer of agricultural products, so the products brought to the market are quite diverse, such as durian, avocado, green-skinned grapefruit, Thai custard apple, wild bitter melon, corn, etc. I have connected with these products at the wholesale markets in Da Nang , Thu Duc, and Long Bien. During the fruit harvest season, I go directly to the houses with large output to deposit and harvest, so the farmers are very secure. Being supported to participate in this market, I have the opportunity to connect with more gardeners in the province to diversify products, as well as find more typical products of ethnic minorities”.

Coming from Ia Pa district to participate in the fair, Mr. Do Van Hung - Chairman of Ia Pa District Farmers' Association said: The district Farmers' Association has coordinated with the district Post Office to put members' products on the e-commerce trading floor, but the effectiveness is still limited, because the product design and packaging are still sketchy, so the promotion is not high. Therefore, through fairs like this, farmers have the opportunity to directly introduce their products to consumers. In addition, with the participation of many localities, farmers can learn and exchange experiences in production, as well as product consumption orientation.
The variety of stalls has brought visitors interesting experiences. Ms. Tran Thi Thu (Group 3, Kon Dong Town, Mang Yang District) expressed: “Here, consumers can learn about many good quality products from localities in the province, many clean products made by local people using completely natural farming methods. The market also has many woven products of local people such as baskets, handbags, tea tables made from rattan and bamboo materials, which are quite unique. I think this is an opportunity for local products to be known to more people, an opportunity for people to learn about traditional crafts”.
Opening up opportunities for farmers to access markets
According to the assessment of Mr. Le Trong - Chairman of Mang Yang District People's Committee, in fact, in recent years, agricultural products of Mang Yang district people have been produced on a small and fragmented scale, the value has not been commensurate with the potential advantages of land and labor resources of the district. In addition, the output for safe agricultural products and the market access of production facilities in the area still face many difficulties, consumers are hesitant when choosing to buy safe agricultural products. Therefore, the market is one of many forms to help consumers access agricultural products that ensure quality, safety, and identify the origin of the products. This is also an opportunity for farmers to exchange and grasp the needs and tastes of consumers in order to serve the improvement, improve product quality, and enhance the competitiveness of local agricultural products.

The fair also contributes to propagating and mobilizing people, especially ethnic minorities in the district, to change their thinking and way of doing things, change their mindset in agricultural production, towards green, clean and organic agriculture, contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution 02 of the District Party Committee on promoting the effective implementation of the campaign "Changing the thinking and way of doing things among ethnic minorities to gradually rise up to escape poverty sustainably" associated with the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas" and the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
