A front wheel fell off a Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 passenger plane and rolled away as the plane prepared to take off over the weekend from an international airport in Atlanta, USA, according to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
None of the 184 passengers and six crew members on board were injured in the incident on January 20 at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the FAA said.
The report said the plane was waiting in line for takeoff when "the nose wheel detached and rolled away."
The Boeing 757 has two rubber tires on the nose. They are placed side by side and are routinely checked for safety before takeoff.
The plane was scheduled to fly to Bogotá, Colombia, and Delta said passengers were put on an alternative flight, according to the New York Times .
Boeing declined to comment on the incident and referred questions to Delta. The FAA said it is continuing to investigate the incident.
Several Boeing planes are facing safety concerns after a door panel on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 plane on January 5 blew off while it was in mid-air.
The FAA has grounded 171 MAX 9 aircraft and recommended airlines conduct safety checks on Boeing 737-900ER aircraft that use similar door seals.
