Local people do not know when the kapok trees were first established. The oldest people here only know that they have seen tall kapok trees in full bloom since they were young. The kapok tree in Phong Giang residential group (Tien Dien town) is estimated to be over 100 years old, another tree nearby is more than twice as old.

The cotton tree flower is also called the cotton tree flower. The flower has 5 petals with a bright red color. The flower starts blooming from the beginning of March and lasts until mid-April. "Every season when the kapok flowers bloom, all kinds of birds come here to chirp. Many people who come to the Great Poet Nguyen Du Memorial Site also stop by the kapok tree to see the flowers and take pictures," said Mr. Thang (residing in Nghi Xuan district).

The kapok tree in the garden of Mr. Dang Tat Thang (born 1955) and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chinh (born 1954) in Block 2, Tien Dien town is about 200 years old. The tree's base is large and rough, requiring many people to hug it. The tree trunk is dozens of meters high, covered with green moss and bright red flowers, creating a special picture.
