VietNamNetVietNamNet12/05/2023

The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (Maur) has just sent a document to the Thu Duc City People's Committee regarding support to strengthen security and safety for the urban railway project No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

According to Maur, recently, on urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), the section located in Thu Duc City, there have been a number of incidents such as theft and vandalism of property of Japanese contractors working on the line.

Specifically, in the early morning of April 30, at Long Binh Depot, it was discovered that train number 3 was parked and sprayed with paint by bad guys.

Train No. 3 of metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) was graffitied.

Maur said this was the second time at Long Binh Depot that subjects broke into the area and sprayed graffiti on train cars. The subjects found every loophole in the security unit to break in and commit the act, although Maur and the contractor had taken many remedial measures after the incident of the first train car being graffitied on June 11, 2022.

According to Maur, in addition to the graffiti on metro trains, there has also been a recent theft of equipment and assets on the elevated section from Thao Dien station to Suoi Tien Bus Station on metro line 1. The subjects have cut and stolen grounding cables, removed sleepers, etc. from the contractor under construction.

Through the above incidents, Maur realized that the security situation for the construction of the urban railway project No. 1 is becoming complicated, which could negatively affect the image of the City.

Maur proposed that the Thu Duc City People's Committee direct the City Police to coordinate with investors and construction contractors to develop coordination regulations to ensure security and order for urban railway line No. 1, the section passing through Thu Duc City.

Long Binh Depot in Thu Duc City is the control and maintenance center of 17 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro trains.

Long Binh Depot area has a total area of over 27 hectares, the current construction area in phase 1 is over 20 hectares. The Depot includes main locations such as: OCC operation building, main train maintenance workshop, urban area, other railway equipment maintenance infrastructure, signal power system, communication, internal road network inside and outside the area and office area of the operating company building...

Depot is considered the central area for operating and maintaining the entire system including: trains, rails, PS traction power supply and distribution system, OCS overhead power lines, signals, telecommunications, automatic toll collection equipment...

Currently, 16/17 trains of metro line 1 are anchored at the Depot, 1 train is anchored at Suoi Tien station.

In the Depot, there are 3 main contractors performing construction and equipment installation work, and are also responsible for ensuring security and occupational safety and hygiene in the management area.

Why is it so easy for metro train No. 1 to be graffitied without anyone noticing? The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (Maur) has just sent a report to the City People's Committee about the incident of train No. 3 being graffitied on April 30 at the Long Binh Depot area (Thu Duc City).
