Heavy rain in the North, super typhoon Ragasa is about to enter the East Sea

It is forecasted that around tonight, September 22, super typhoon Ragasa will move into the East Sea and become the 9th typhoon of the year to operate in this sea area.

On September 22, the weather in many areas across the country was relatively complicated, with thunderstorms appearing over a wide area.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 a.m. on September 22, the center of super typhoon RAGASA was at about 19.2 degrees North latitude; 124.1 degrees East longitude, about 230 km East-Northeast of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 16 - 17 (184-221 km/h), gusting above level 17. The storm moved in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 20 km/h.

It is forecasted that around the evening of September 22, super typhoon Ragasa will move into the East Sea and become the 9th typhoon of the year to operate in this sea area.

After that, the super storm will move quickly, about 20 km/h, with maximum storm intensity reaching level 16-17, gusting above level 17 on September 22-23 while still in the East Sea.

On September 24, the super typhoon is likely to weaken. By early morning on September 25, the storm will pass the Leizhou peninsula (China) and move into the Gulf of Tonkin with a strong intensity of level 12-14, gusting to level 15-16.

It is forecasted that on September 25, the storm will move inland, focusing on the area from Quang Ninh - Ha Tinh .

On September 22, the weather in many areas across the country was relatively complicated, with widespread thunderstorms, some places with heavy to very heavy rain.

In the North and Central Highlands, scattered showers and thunderstorms are common weather patterns. Some places may experience heavy to very heavy rain.

The strip of land from Nghe An to Hue City, the South Central Coast provinces as well as the Southeast region in the afternoon and evening of September 22 all had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places recording heavy rain.

In Da Nang City, the South Central Coast and the South, rainfall during this period fluctuates from 10 to 39 mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 70 mm. Notably, some places may see rainfall exceeding 70 mm in just 3 hours, increasing the risk of natural disasters.

Apart from the above mentioned areas, the remaining localities across the country will only have scattered showers and thunderstorms on September 22. The weather will be more favorable but people still need to be on guard against extreme weather events.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

Northwest: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Light wind. During thunderstorms, watch out for tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 22-25°C, some places below 22°C. Highest temperature 31-34°C.

Northeast: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, heavy to very heavy rain in some places. Light wind. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-26°C, in mountainous areas below 22°C. Highest temperature 30-33°C.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. In the afternoon, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. Light wind. During thunderstorms, there may be tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-26°C. Highest temperature 30-33°C.
