New generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2026 continues to reveal "hot photos"

Based on recent test images circulating on social networks, experts have released a detailed design sketch of the 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport model.

The next-generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (also known as Montero Sport in some markets) has recently been revealed. Compared to the vague teaser images that Mitsubishi released in 2023 and 2024, the new series of photos provides more data allowing a clearer visualization of the overall design of this separate chassis SUV.

In previous teasers, Mitsubishi called the new model "PPV" - short for "Pickup Platform Vehicle", referring to the SUV developed from the pickup platform. However, the new rendering shows that the new generation Pajero Sport no longer follows the traditional direction of sharing the front body with Triton, but has a completely independent design.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2026 has a square shape, upright windshield, taller and wider body, reminiscent of competitors in the large SUV segment such as Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, instead of mid-range SUVs like Fortuner.

The new design adopts Mitsubishi's modern aesthetic language, with identifying details such as the T-shaped headlight clusters and taillights. The rear of the car stands out with a hexagonal shape on the rear door - inspired by the spare tire cover of classic Pajero models.

Many opinions say that this is a signal that Mitsubishi can "revive" its Pajero SUV line in a more high-end direction, instead of just maintaining the current "Sport" version.

Regarding the powertrain, the new Pajero Sport will likely share the 2.4L 4N16 diesel engine with the new generation Triton pickup truck.

Mitsubishi currently has two options: a single turbo (181hp, 430Nm) and a more powerful twin-turbo (201hp, 470Nm). A plug-in hybrid variant is also a possibility in the context of increasingly strict emissions standards.

Mitsubishi has not confirmed the official launch date of the new generation Pajero Sport. However, recent leaked images show that this model is entering the final testing phase, promising to be launched soon in the near future.
