The campaign, launched by the Future of Life Institute, has attracted nearly 1,000 participants, from the world of technology, politics to art. They call for a halt to the development of superintelligent AI until there is scientific consensus on safety and control.
These systems are growing too quickly, beyond oversight and lacking a strong legal framework, the statement said. Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio warn that superintelligent AI could surpass humans in most cognitive tasks within just a few years.
Bengio stressed that development must be based on a scientific foundation that ensures AI cannot cause harm, whether through bias or malice. The survey found that a majority of the public supports control and only 5% want to develop unfettered AI. However, many experts warn that “premature bans” could slow innovation and push research into an unmanageable gray area.
Although controversial, this call marks a turning point when AI is no longer a technical issue, but a global concern. Dear readers, please watch more videos : AI garbage - New problem on social networks VTV24
