The beaver moon also has other names such as "weeping moon", "frozen moon", "moon from the dark abyss"... Photo: PA. Of these, the most well-known is the Beaver Moon. This name comes from the fact that North Americans call the full moon at 11 because that is the season when beavers are busiest building dams. Photo: Gary Hershorn/Getty Images. In fact, the nests in the middle of the water, made of leaves, twigs and sometimes even rocks, help them store food during the winter and avoid attacks from predators such as bears and wolves. Another explanation is that the November full moon is called the beaver moon because this is the time of year when Native Americans used to set beaver traps. Photo: vice. During this beaver moon, the moon will orbit about 27,358 km closer to Earth than average, making it appear larger and brighter. This occurs when the moon is in its full phase and near perigee, the closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit. Photo: vice. The November supermoon was bright enough to obscure some stars and even cast shadows on the ground, a rare effect only seen during supermoons. Photo: NASA/Michael DeMocker.
The best time to see the beaver moon is when it is above the eastern horizon. Photo: pjsells / GETTY IMAGES. Readers are invited to watch the video : Universe map with more than 900,000 stars, galaxies and black holes. Source: THĐT1.
