Russia continues its attack on Kostiantynivka, just 400 meters from the center

Russia is advancing on the city of Kostiantynivka, now just 400 meters from the city's main transport hub; FAB-3000 bombs hit Ukrainian military positions.

The Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) continues to implement the “thousand cuts” strategy, aiming to disperse Ukraine’s defenses. By attacking simultaneously on several fronts, the RFAF forces the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to prioritize certain areas, leading to the weakening of defenses in other areas of the front.

This is happening on the Kostiantynivka front. While the AFU General Staff is concentrating its forces on defending Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, the RFAF Southern Group of Forces has broken through the Ukrainian defenses, advancing deeper into Kostiantynivka east of the city.

On this day, the Russians, having advanced about 700 meters in residential areas, advanced almost the entire length of Aleksandr Ostrovsky Street. The fighting is taking place 400 meters from the main transport hub of the city, near the Konstantinovka mine, which the AFU is turning into a defensive position.

The center itself is also a transport hub, where the Gorlovka-Kramatorsk and Bakhmut-Pokrovsk routes intersect. At the same time, Russian assault groups are fighting to regain the tram station, having captured a piece of territory near Stroitelnaya Street.

The RFAF attacks forced the Ukrainian forces in Konstantinovka to reorganize their defenses once again. Initially, the AFU intended to build a defensive line to prevent the Russians from entering the city from the southwest. However, the Russians entered from the southeast, in fact attacking the rear of some AFU units.

Rybar channel reported that in Kostiantynivka, the shock units of the RFAF Southern Group continued to sweep and eliminate a series of AFU strongholds on the defense lines in the southeast of the city.

In the city center, the 4th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the RFAF Southern Group of Forces took control of the Matrona Moskovskaya mine. This large industrial facility was an important AFU transit point for the Toretsk front, and later became a UAV deployment site.

Further north, the RFAF has knocked out enemy positions near Nelepovka. Fighting continues for the town, as well as neighboring Pleshcheyeyevka. At the same time, Russian forces have begun an attempt to break through to the northern shore of the Kleban-Byk reservoir. Small groups of infantry are advancing through the vegetation near the reservoir, trying to avoid detection by Ukrainian UAVs.

Fighting is also ongoing in the residential area on the outskirts of Kostiantynivka, where small groups of RFAF infantry had previously tried to penetrate. Some units are advancing towards the railway station, where the city's largest bridge crosses the Krivoy Torets River. To the east of the city, they have pushed Ukrainian troops back from much of Predtechino.

However, the RFAF has not yet been able to fully consolidate its position. To do so, it must level the front lines at the entrances to the city and organize secure supply routes for the forward units. In general, the situation in Kostiantynivka is developing more unfavorably than the AFU General Staff had anticipated.

In coordination with ground forces, Russian tactical aviation carried out another attack with a three-ton glide bomb on a Ukrainian position at Kostiantynivka. Aerial reconnaissance discovered the Ukrainian headquarters, located in the basement of the former Elegy dental clinic and funeral home.

At the time of the airstrike, there may have been up to 50 Ukrainian soldiers stationed inside the basement, including several commanding officers of the Ukrainian garrison at Kostiantynivka. Given the explosive power of the 3-ton bomb, it is safe to assume that there were no survivors among the Ukrainian troops stationed there.

Street fighting is also said to have begun on the outskirts of the city, the Readovka channel reported. Ukrainian sources noted an escalation in this part of the front. The AFU admitted that Russian troops were strengthening their positions in the Santurinovka area on the southeastern outskirts of Kostiantynivka.

Readovka said that Russian units have consolidated their positions near the tram station, thus opening the way for further advances into the city's residential areas. Despite AFU efforts to stabilize the defense line, Russian troops continue to consolidate the bridgehead to advance deeper into the Kostiantynivka urban area.

Ukrainian troops in Kostiantynivka are also trying to counterattack but are not successful, due to the active activity of FPV UAVs and artillery fire from Russian troops from Chasov Yar, causing AFU to suffer losses and be forced to retreat.
