ABA is an agency under the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs , Energy and Tourism, responsible for advising and promoting international cooperation in business investment, labor and the film industry. Established in 1982, ABA has so far contributed to creating nearly 75,000 new jobs, attracting 14 billion euros (16.2 billion USD) in investment capital into Austria, and coordinating with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) to promote investment abroad.
Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang introduced the investment policies and environment in Vietnam with many potentials and opportunities for Austrian businesses, which have strengths in technology, finance, green transformation, digital transformation, and are also a leading partner in sending workers to work abroad under the non-profit model in many large markets in Asia and Europe, highly appreciated for their skills, discipline and adaptability.
The Ambassador cited the success of the nursing training cooperation model at the IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences in Lower Austria, which offers 150 full scholarships to Vietnamese students. Students are trained and practiced systematically, and upon graduation are guaranteed jobs with high incomes.
Currently, the number of Vietnamese workers in Austria is still modest compared to other markets in the European Union (EU), and the two sides do not have a mechanism or government- level agreement on labor cooperation. Vietnam wishes to pave the way to promote cooperation in skilled labor and vocational training with Austrian partners, especially in the fields of nursing, information technology, electricity - electronics, restaurants - hotels, and seasonal labor.
Mr. Rene Tritscher said that the Austrian Government increasingly values Vietnam as a gateway market to the region with many potentials and advantages, suitable for the competitive strengths of Austrian enterprises such as precision engineering, railways, high technology, financial services, biomedical technology and pharmaceuticals, tourism . Vietnam is also a very potential partner in terms of skilled labor, in the context that Austria is continuing to expand its key labor market outside of Southeast Europe, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brazil.
The ABA Director congratulated the nursing training cooperation model focusing on sustainable quality at IMC Krems and agreed to promote other states in Austria to apply this model with Vietnam, and committed to supporting and accompanying the initiatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, including upcoming events such as the annual Technology Forum, Vietnam Investment and Business Forum, Vietnam - Austria Skilled Labor and Vocational Training Cooperation Forum.
