Mong Cai launches peak campaign to combat smuggling and trade fraud

On May 26, Steering Committee 389 of Mong Cai city held a meeting to deploy tasks to launch a peak period to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

In recent times, member units of the Steering Committee 389 of Mong Cai city have been proactive, directed strongly, and effectively implemented assigned tasks, resolutely fighting against smuggling, illegal transportation of goods across the border, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, preventing the formation of hot spots in the area. The work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the city continues to be well contained and controlled.

However, the situation of smuggling, illegal transportation of goods across the border, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area still always has many potential risks if the units do not pay attention and direct the fight resolutely.

Since the beginning of the year, the functional sectors have arrested and handled a total of 191 cases/189 subjects in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, banned goods, and food safety violations, with an estimated value of VND 17,016,492 million (down 21.4% in number of cases and up 95.89% in value compared to the same period in 2024). The fight against smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor-quality goods in the group of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, medicinal herbs and traditional medicine has received special attention and been resolutely handled with 8 cases/8 subjects arrested and handled, with evidence of violations including 4,815 units of various cosmetic products.

In the coming time, assessing the new developments in the market situation, the Steering Committee 389 of Mong Cai city chaired and requested the relevant sectors and functional forces to continue to strengthen the work of grasping the situation, focusing on some key areas, resolutely fighting against all types of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods, especially paying attention to fiercely fighting against groups of food, pharmaceuticals, functional foods, medicinal herbs and traditional medicine with signs of counterfeiting, trading and transportation, ensuring safety for people's health.
