The dreams of the current generation must be bigger than those of previous generations.

On August 28th, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector's traditional day, Minister of ICT Nguyen Manh Hung held a sharing and exchange session with all officials, civil servants, and employees in 34 agencies and units under the Ministry, on the topic: The ICT sector: Challenges and opportunities in the digital age. This was not the first time the head of the sector had spoken and answered the concerns of employees in the industry, but this time the number of attendees was the largest ever.

Held at 11 online locations across three regions – Hanoi , Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City – the exchange was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Information and Communications Phan Tam, Nguyen Huy Dung, Nguyen Thanh Lam, and Bui Hoang Phuong.

Choosing the industry's traditions as the opening topic of his talk, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stated that the ten golden words " Loyalty - Courage - Dedication - Creativity - Compassion" were born from the industry's practical experience and are also the identity of the Ministry of Information and Communications. These ten golden words were passed down by previous generations, and the current generation needs to understand and use them as guidance in their lives and work. "An organization that does not inherit its roots is like losing its origins," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.

However, according to the analysis of the head of the Ministry of Information and Communications, while previous generations were moved by the ten traditional golden words of the industry, for the current generation, to maintain and continue the flow of historical tradition, these ten golden words need to be "infused with life," given new meanings suitable for the present era. With this perspective, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung dedicated a significant portion of his talk to explaining the new meanings and manifestations of each quality – "Loyalty," "Courage," "Dedication," "Creativity," and "Compassion" – in relation to current realities, accompanied by specific examples from situations and stories within the Ministry's own agencies and units.

In parallel, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also once again thoroughly explained the core meaning and values of the Ministry of Information and Communications' current action motto, which is: "Setting an Example - Discipline - Focus - Breakthrough," with the hope that all officials, employees, and workers in the Ministry and the industry will understand and apply it in their daily lives.

Reviewing the outstanding achievements of previous generations during the first wave of reforms, the Ministry of Information and Communications stated the requirement: With better conditions, the dreams of the current generation must be bigger than those of the previous generation; the next generation must surpass the previous one for the industry and the country to develop.

In fact, the current generation has inherited the industry's traditions and made new strides, achieving many new accomplishments, such as: From being a place where foreigners invested in telecommunications, Vietnam has expanded its operations to provide telecommunications services in many countries around the world; from purchasing foreign equipment for use, Vietnam is now realizing its dream of building a network using domestically produced equipment; 1,500 digital technology enterprises have international market revenues reaching $10 billion... These fundamental changes have contributed to the stronger development of the industry and the country compared to the previous period; at the same time, maintaining the continuous flow of the industry's history of always being a pioneer and leader.

If you're passionate about your work, you won't feel any pressure.

Besides expressing his wish for the Ministry's workforce to continue upholding traditions, building upon the past to move forward and open up a new future, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also affirmed that the Ministry of Information and Communications currently plays a crucial role, with the mission of being the wings that will enable Vietnam to soar to prosperity and become a developed country by 2045. "The mission is greater, so we must strive harder!" Minister Nguyen Manh Hung urged.

The head of the Ministry of Information and Communications also shared many heartfelt and frank insights about the Ministry's current direction and some of its current tasks, such as personnel rotation, the two stages of digital transformation in various units, reducing the workload for employees through investment in digital tools and virtual assistants, finding new approaches to overcoming difficulties, and work attitudes.

Specifically, drawing on the positive results of the Ministry of Information and Communications' (MIC) personnel rotation and secondment to localities, ministries, and sectors over the past five years, the Minister pointed out that personnel rotation creates a healthy and dynamic environment for organizations, helping officials mature, gain new perspectives, and work more effectively. According to the Minister, to ensure sufficient personnel and improve their quality, the MIC has recently introduced the concept of interconnected personnel within the MIC with personnel nationwide, and with personnel from affiliated organizations and enterprises in the sector.

Affirming that reducing the workload for employees is the responsibility of the leadership, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that the Ministry of Information and Communications is developing a virtual assistant to support officials and civil servants and building an online reporting system to reduce the number of reports sent by departments to the Ministry each year by 10 times. “Agencies and units within the Ministry must invest in technology, develop tools, and develop knowledge systems so that employees in the units are less burdened and can work happily and enthusiastically,” the head of the Ministry of Information and Communications emphasized.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung noted that employees should focus on the positive aspects of working in government agencies to enjoy their work and be passionate about it. When employees are enthusiastic and passionate, they will not feel pressured by their work. If they are passionate but cannot find a solution, or find the work difficult, they can ask their leaders for guidance to make the difficult task easier.

During the discussion, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also addressed the concerns and anxieties of workers: How to create a culture within an organization, how to make an organization excellent, whether virtual assistants can be trusted, the 'lifespan' of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and Fintech, how the teaching profession will change in the context of AI development, how to evaluate students when they use AI...

Concluding the exchange, the head of the Ministry of Information and Communications expressed his hope that the officials and employees of the Ministry would unite and work together to successfully fulfill their unit's tasks, and find passion and joy in their work. He urged the heads of the Ministry's units to create an environment where the agency becomes a second home for its employees.

Inheriting the past and opening up a new future for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector : During a meeting with former leaders of the ICT sector, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that the Ministry of Information and Communications always inherits the past while opening up a new future, maintaining continuity between generations of the sector.
