Countries such as Laos, Pakistan, Uganda, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau... officially announced to send candidates for the first time to attend Mr World 2024 which will be held in Vietnam this November.
This November, Vietnam will host the Mr World 2024 contest for the first time and will be the third time an Asian country has hosted the contest after South Korea in 2010 and the Philippines in 2019.
The organizers said the contest is receiving a lot of support from countries that have been absent from Mr World for a long time as well as witnessing countries registering for the first time.
Countries that first "touched the door" of Mr World 2024
Mr World Laos 2024 Sam Syinthavong is currently a teaching assistant, model and personal trainer. Previously, Sam was in the Top 5 of Mister International Laos 2021.
Sam graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently a physical education teacher for autistic children. At Mr World 2024, Sam brought the charity project “Autism Kids Talk” to contribute to raising awareness of autistic children and raising funds for the children’s essential needs.
A 24-year-old British-Pakistani, Usman Janjua was born in Lahore, known as the “City of Gardens.” Usman now runs a real estate finance brokerage firm in London.
Mr. World Pakistan 2024 is also a model, boxer and footballer. Usman played football for various clubs from a young age and signed for English football club West Brom Albion at the age of 15. At the age of 18, Usman started boxing.
“I am a gym enthusiast with at least two gym visits a day,” Usman shares.
Mbarara is also the country that sent its first contestant to Mr World. This opportunity belongs to Shaun Micheal Alinda, 24 years old, 1.87m tall, a fashion model, who also owns a poultry farm and works at Chicken Supplying.
Alinda is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in real estate and asset management. Alinda's hobbies include playing basketball, listening to music, watching TV series, traveling , exploring nature and exercising. Mister World Uganda's goal is to help people find information, support and promote creativity.
Djibril Cissé (28 years old) is an environmental activist from Conakry. Djibril has a degree in modern literature and is the president of the university's student committee. Djibril has a special talent for poetry and describes himself as a nature lover who enjoys gardening.
As the first ever Mr World Guinea winner, Djibril aspires to be a leader in the field of environmental sustainability and communications.
Mr World Guinea-Bissau 2024 is Gabriel Monteiro, 28 years old, currently a financial advisor and fluent in 5 languages including English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Catalan.
Gabriel claims to be a descendant of his country's royalty with career ambitions to become a successful businessman, build his own brand, help those in need and change the world in a positive way. Gabriel's motto in life is "Do your best and the results will always be there."
Two countries return after many years of absence
The East African country has officially announced its return to the Mr World 2024 pageant held in the S-shaped strip of land after 14 years of vacancy. Previously, Ethiopia sent a representative to the competition in South Korea in 2010 but did not achieve any results.
Representing Ethiopia this year is fashion model Natnael Mirco (27 years old), Mister Friendship Ethiopia 2023 who participated in Mister Friendship International 2023 in Taiwan. Natnael Mirco will come to Vietnam to compete with more than 80 Mister World from all over the world.
Notably, Jamaica, a Caribbean country that has produced four Miss Worlds, returned with a candidate selected from the national pageant, 22-year-old Tarique Barrett. Barrett is a student at the University of the West Indies, studying a double major in marketing and accounting. Barrett is passionate about sports and is a member of the rugby team.
“I will be aiming for the international title, really making history as the first Jamaican in over 25 years to not have my country represented at Mr World. I will definitely bring this title home and I know I will do my best and represent our small but influential country,” Barrett shared.
Jamaica first entered the Mr World contest in 1996, represented by Richard Nevers, who made it to the top 5. In 1998, in Portugal, Kinte Thelwell also did quite well, making it to the top 6. 26 years later, Tarique Barrett will bring Jamaica back to the world stage./.
