This year, the price of dried squid caught by hook in Ba Ria-Vung Tau increased to 1.75 million VND/kg for 10 pieces. Thus, the price of dried squid caught by hook for Lunar New Year this year increased by more than 400,000 VND/kg compared to last year's Lunar New Year.


Due to scarce supply, the price of dried squid this year in Ba Ria-Vung Tau has increased dramatically by more than 300,000-400,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

This year, the price of dried squid caught by hook in Ba Ria-Vung Tau increased to 1.75 million VND/kg for 10 pieces. Thus, this year's Lunar New Year, the price of dried squid caught by hook increased by more than 400,000 VND compared to last year's Lunar New Year.

Of which, grade 1 dried squid increased by more than 300,000 VND/kg compared to last year, currently priced at 1.4 million VND/kg. Small dried squid (100 pieces/kg) also increased in price by about 70%, from 300,000 VND/kg to 500,000-550,000 VND/kg.

In particular, hand-caught dried squid costs up to 1.75 million VND/kg for 10 pieces/kg, an increase of 400,000 VND/kg.

Dried shrimp prices also increased sharply in the market of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, increasing by 100,000-200,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

Currently, in the market of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the price of dried shrimp is 1.2-1.4 million VND/kg for grade 1; 800-900 VND/kg for grade 2 dried shrimp.

“The price of dried squid and dried shrimp has increased so much that few people buy them. If a few years ago during Tet we sold tons of dried squid and dried shrimp, this year we only sold about 300 kg,” said Ms. Vo Thi Thu Nguyet, owner of E Nguyet seafood business (Phuoc Tinh commune, Long Dat district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).
