The People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen City has just issued a decision to certify 3-star OCOP products for 10 products including Le Hien ao dai and phoenix flower embroidered scarf (in Duong Quan ward), yellow sticky rice wine (An Lu ward), Dai Thom 8 rice and Hang Dat pork roll (in Thuy Ha ward), hydroponic pennywort powder (in Pham Ngu Lao ward), ornamental peacocks and wooden paintings (in Nam Trieu Giang ward), leaf-fermented sticky rice wine (Tam Hung ward), and high-protein fish sauce (Lap Le ward).
According to the investigation of Dan Viet reporter, in Thuy Nguyen city, there are 56 products/36 entities recognized as OCOP. Of which, 5 products/2 entities achieved 4-star rating, 51 products/34 entities achieved 3-star rating. Thus, with 21 communes and wards, in the whole Thuy Nguyen city, there are on average 2 to 3 OCOP products/commune or ward.
Mr. Nguyen The Tuan, the owner of Dai Thom 8 rice, which has just been recognized as an OCOP product in Tay Trai residential group, Thuy Ha ward, said that he has been in the rice business for 14 years. During his business, he found that Dai Thom 8 rice is quite suitable for the soil of Thuy Ha ward.

Since then, he has gathered and provided seeds to 6-7 households who have rented nearly 100 hectares of abandoned rice fields from people in the ward and other communes and wards in Thuy Nguyen city to plant and consume output products. Mr. Tuan not only helps local people have a stable income from the local agricultural production area, but also affirms the brand of Dai Thom 8 rice products with OCOP certification. After being recognized, Dai Thom 8 rice products are sought after by many people.
Also on this occasion, the moon cake product of Mr. Tran Van Tien's household in Thuy Duong ward was upgraded by the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen city from 3-star product to 4-star standard. Mr. Tien informed that this is the basis for him to invest in a closed cake production line system, ensuring food hygiene and safety standards, improving product quality.
Improve the quality and scale of OCOP products
Although in Thuy Nguyen city, each commune has 2 to 3 OCOP products. However, the scale of OCOP products is still quite fragmented and small. OCOP products are mainly available, there are no new products, some products are similar and duplicate such as wine and moon cakes.

In addition, many establishments do not focus on design and quality, so their competitiveness is limited. They are mainly consumed in the Thuy Nguyen market, and have expanded to the Hai Phong market but still quite a bit.
Up to now, the goal of covering each commune with a local OCOP product has been completed, but the evaluation and certification of OCOP products is only the first step in assigning stars to the product.
Informing Dan Viet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Vien - Vice Chairman of Thuy Nguyen City People's Committee said that the city's specialized departments continue to guide and support localities, especially entities, to widely implement the OCOP program in order to build the city's OCOP program commensurate with its potential and advantages.

The city will also create conditions for economic organizations to access preferential loans to invest in production, processing, and consumption of OCOP products, while paying attention to trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand for OCOP products through fairs, exhibitions, events to honor, promote, and introduce products.
