'Witnessing' two water pipelines 'reviving' To Lich River
Two 1.2m diameter water pipes have been installed to carry water from West Lake to To Lich River (Hanoi). Hanoians hope the river will be revived.

On September 9, Hanoi completed a 1.5 km long pipeline leading water from West Lake to To Lich River (Hoang Quoc Viet street section) and began adding water to improve the flow. The project consists of two HDPE pipes with a diameter of 1.2 m, running parallel, taking water from West Lake A gate (Trich Sai street), following the existing canal through lane 24 Vo Chi Cong and pouring into the head of To Lich river. This is a large-sized, high-pressure plastic pipe that can transport a very large volume of water, enough to create a regular flow for the entire river section. The pipeline is designed to replenish continuously, maintain clean water in the canal and avoid mixing with wastewater. The system has an attached pumping station, ensuring that water from West Lake is brought down regularly even when the terrain difference is not enough for self-flow. This pipeline has been urgently constructed in the past two months. Previously, Hanoi also completed an underground pipeline system about 15km long with the largest diameter reaching 2.2m, responsible for collecting all wastewater discharged into the To Lich River. According to the staff, after completing the installation, the pipe section here will be filled into an underground pipe, with a road above. On the river today, environmental workers continue to collect trash and complete the landscaping along both banks. The project to divert water from West Lake is expected to contribute to improving the environment of the To Lich River, which has long been polluted.PV (synthesis)
