The US failed to disburse the $2,000 subsidy to people this year.
In a recent interview with the press on Air Force One, when asked when people would receive the $2,000 tax dividend, specifically whether the checks could reach people before Christmas this year, US President Donald Trump answered frankly that it could not happen this year and the payment would be implemented next year.
When asked for a more specific timeline, President Trump said the spending would come “sometime next year,” as it was a very large financial program. However, he insisted that the US had already collected a huge amount of money from tariffs, and that this revenue would allow him to both support the American people and reduce the national debt.
President Trump stressed that thanks to tariffs, the administration can “pay dividends to the people if we want,” while also reiterating that the United States is dealing with $37 trillion in public debt caused by Biden’s spending spree. Tariffs create real, foreign money flowing into the U.S. treasury, allowing the administration to both pay $2,000 to the working class and reduce the burden of the national debt.
He described the plan as a two-pronged strategy: returning money to people to spend, providing relief and stability, and reducing the national debt “significantly” without raising taxes or printing more money.
When asked whether the $2,000 payments to low- and middle-income earners would increase inflation, President Trump insisted that the money was not borrowed or printed like in the Biden era, but real money from tariffs levied on China and many other countries.
Mr. Trump said that under Biden, direct payments to the people were funded with “made-up money,” leading to record inflation of 40–50% that people suffered. President Trump called his predecessor’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) “a game of words,” because it did not reduce inflation but only hid huge spending with a fancy name.
