Escondido Beach, which is traditionally occupied by the wealthy in Malibu, California, will be opened to the public.
The California Coastal Commission confirmed the news in June, though no official opening date has been announced for Escondido Beach. However, in the near future, visitors and residents will be able to enjoy more than 43 kilometers of beaches in the area.
According to the Guardian , in the 1980s, wealthy people bought beachfront villas, leaving residents with no convenient access to the beach. If they wanted to bathe, they had to access it through inconvenient entrances, making it difficult to find parking. The problem has existed for nearly 40 years. At a hearing on June 7, local authorities pointed out violations when property owners did not allow the public access to the beach area near their homes.

"Escondido Beach is located in a very popular area of downtown Malibu, near Paradise Cove, Escondido Falls and Point Dume. Escondido means 'hidden' in Spanish. In the 21st century, it is still difficult for people to access," local authorities said.
Owners of the coastal villas have now agreed to pay fines and cooperate with the authorities by opening roads to allow people to access the beach.
Previously, another beach, Carbon Beach or “Billionaire Beach”, located not far from Escondido, also faced a similar situation when wealthy people bought beachfront villas and blocked the access to the beach. The Coastal Commission has succeeded in opening three separate access points to this beach so that people can swim according to local regulations.
