The US Embassy in Paraguay said that from next December, the country will allow the resumption of beef imports from Paraguay after a 25-year suspension.
According to Reuters, in a new announcement, the US Embassy in Paraguay said that the new regulation will take effect from December 14, issued after US regulatory agencies announced the conclusion of an extensive assessment of Paraguayan beef.
Accordingly, Paraguay passed the assessment to meet quality standards for beef products as well as the control system to ensure food safety and animal health.
The US Embassy also stated that the decision includes Paraguay in the group of 18 countries allowed to export beef products to the US; at the same time, it demonstrates Washington's commitment to expanding comprehensive and mutually beneficial economic opportunities for the people of both countries.
On social network X, Paraguayan President Santiago Pena called this decision a “historic milestone” after 25 years.
