“Bad Memory Eraser” is MBN’s new romance drama that revolves around a man whose life changes because of a memory eraser and the woman who holds his fate in her hands.
Kim Jae Joong will play Lee Kun, who was once a promising tennis player but lost his self-esteem and confidence after an injury. Jin Se Yeon will play neuropsychiatrist Kyung Joo Yeon, who accidentally becomes Lee Kun's fake first love through memory manipulation.
As “Bad Memory Eraser” marks Kim Jae Joong’s first time taking on a comedic role in a drama, he confessed, “There were many times when I suddenly became self-conscious and embarrassed while acting. I was especially embarrassed when I had to act almost naked in front of dozens of crew members.”
However, he noted, “The film has strong comedic elements, but also a lot of serious aspects, so I feel like I'm playing a lot of different roles.
I hope that “Bad Memory Eraser” will become an interesting drama that also touches the hearts of viewers.”
Kim Jae Joong also shared about a scene that impressed him: "While filming the scene where I talk to the dog Cola, I messed up many times because I kept laughing out loud. However, I can confidently say that Cola was the main culprit who messed up more scenes than me."
Speaking about his co-stars, Kim Jae Joong commented, “Jin Se Yeon has the ability to light up the set with her presence. She never stops smiling, and she is very focused when acting, so I learned a lot from her.
Kyung Joo Yeon's comedic acting in this drama is especially top-notch, so make sure you don't miss it.
As for Lee Jong Won, he is the cutest person on set. I was impressed by his flexibility during filming, and now we have become close like friends.”
When asked about the similarities between his character and his real-life personality, Kim Jae Joong emphasized that the most obvious difference is when it comes to love. "I'm definitely not the type to pursue boldly," the actor confessed.
Kim Jae Joong described “Bad Memory Eraser” as a story about growth: “It’s a drama that contains a variety of emotions: when you’re frustrated, it can give you a sense of refreshment, and when you feel empty, it can fill you up. I hope you’ll look forward to it.”
Before entering acting, Kim Jae Joong debuted as a member of the Kpop boy group TVXQ (or DBSK) in 2003, under the management of SM Entertainment.
In 2009, Kim Jae Joong, along with two members Park Yoo Chun and Kim Jun Su, filed a lawsuit against SM due to harsh contracts. They then separated from TVXQ and formed a new group called JYJ.
But under the influence of SM, the 3 male idols could not participate in music and entertainment programs on Korean national television for 10 years, until 2019.
In addition to his career as a singer, Kim Jae Joong is currently pursuing his career as an actor. He also owns his own company.
According to Korean media, Kim Jae Joong is the second richest Kpop idol in the Korean singer industry, only behind JYP Entertainment President Park Jin Young. Kim Jae Joong's net worth is estimated at around $100 million.
