Although there are still many difficulties in terms of facilities, the majority of students are ethnic minority children, but with the determination to improve the quality of English, the school has arranged 1 English teacher to teach junior high school and 1 foreign language teacher to teach from grade 3 to grade 5. This is the core force directly implementing the 2018 General Education Program for English.

Talking to us, teacher Nguyen Van Minh - Principal of Trung Chai Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities said: We identify English as one of the important keys to improving the quality of comprehensive education. Although we face difficulties because the students are mainly from the Mang and Mong ethnic groups, their English pronunciation is still limited. To overcome this difficulty, the school directed the professional team to develop a professional training plan, design lesson plans in the direction of learning and playing, and apply visual methods. Professional activities in clusters of schools help teachers share experiences, overcome difficulties in pronunciation and grammar, organize games, and build a positive learning atmosphere.

Joining the English lesson of the teacher and students of Class 3A1, we saw that the classroom atmosphere was fun. Instead of just focusing on textbooks and exam sets, the teacher let the students watch clips, movies with English subtitles, learn to sing and play games to help them get used to listening and speaking more, at the same time, increase their communication skills and help them become more confident. In addition, teachers use Online Stopwatch and Brain gym software to start the lesson; in the lessons, teachers also apply PowerPoint lectures and hoclieu.vn software to make the lessons more lively and attractive. Thanks to that, students focus on learning better and look forward to English lessons.

One of the major changes is that the school has set up a fully equipped English classroom, ensuring students have access to a foreign language environment. To foster students' interest and passion for English, the school directs English teachers to constantly innovate the content and methods of teaching; focusing on students' listening and speaking skills. Lesson plans are designed to suit each student's needs so that they can easily access knowledge and participate in activities. The content and format of lessons are diversified by incorporating knowledge from various sources: newspapers, television, the internet, games, puzzles, poetry readings, and songs in English. This makes the lesson atmosphere more lively, engaging students, and helps them understand the material more quickly.

In addition to classroom hours, English teachers at Trung Chai Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities regularly tutor and guide students to love English.

To help students be more confident in communicating and approaching English effectively, the school also established an English Club; organized playgrounds such as: participating in the online English Olympic competition, excellent English students at all levels. With many solutions implemented, the school's foreign language quality has gradually improved. The rate of students meeting English requirements has increased steadily over the years; the number of good and excellent students has tended to increase; many students won first, second, and third prizes in the online English Olympic competition... gradually making English the second language in schools.

In the 2024-2025 school year, at the primary level, the total number of students winning prizes in the IOE exam at the district and provincial levels (online English) is 8; of which, at the district level, there were 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 1 consolation prize; at the provincial level, there was 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 2 third prizes and 2 consolation prizes. At the secondary level, 1 student won first prize at the district level, 1 student won second prize at the provincial level in the online English IOE exam.

With the efforts of the school, teachers and students, the timely attention and investment of the relevant authorities, it is hoped that in the coming school years, the scale, quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning English will be continuously improved, gradually helping Trung Chai Primary and Secondary School to make English its second language.
