Pursuant to Decision No. 2119/QD-UBND dated July 19, 2024, Quang Ninh province announced 8 tours to Ha Long Bay, 10 tours to Bai Tu Long Bay and 3 tours connecting the two bays. Localities such as Van Don and Cam Pha have coordinated with departments and branches to upgrade infrastructure and develop new tourism products. These tourist routes are expected to open in mid-March 2025.
At a recent meeting of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh emphasized that the new tour routes not only create more luxurious experience spaces but also extend the length of stay, increase spending and enhance the competitiveness of Quang Ninh tourism.
To prepare for this event, the province has coordinated with many businesses to build diverse and unique tourism products. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized survey groups (famtrips) for domestic and foreign travel businesses to promote Bai Tu Long Bay tourism routes. Businesses are also actively building a connection program between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, attracting many high-class tourist groups from Europe and North America.
Travel agencies are actively proposing and exploiting tourism products in the Cam Pha and Van Don areas. Hang Ngoc Rong Company Limited and Vung Duc Tourism Company Limited have proposed to organize a program of art performances combined with cuisine at Vung Duc Cave (Cam Pha); operate a boat tour to Bai Tu Long Bay from Cam Pha and connect Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long. Vietnam Sightseeing Joint Stock Company is researching and developing a double-decker bus service and a coffee bus from Bai Chay - Hon Gai to Vung Duc (Cam Pha).
Viet Thuan Company Limited has completed tourism products connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay. Cam Pha City is actively surveying tours, routes, investing in anchorage points on Bai Tu Long Bay, expanding the experience of marine farming areas associated with tourism development. In Van Don, Mai Quyen Company Limited and CEO Van Don Company are researching and developing sightseeing and accommodation boats. Bai Tu Long National Park Management Board is also developing tourism products associated with nature conservation.
Along with that, in the Ha Long Bay area, the Ha Long Bay Management Board and a number of businesses continue to propose new products such as exploiting small beaches, caves, arranging culinary and music services, along with paragliding and water sports activities, creating new highlights.
The good news is that Quang Ninh is gradually becoming a top destination for high-end tourists. At the end of January 2024, an Indian billionaire couple held their wedding on Ha Long Bay after experiencing the beauty here. On February 11, two American millionaires, Jeff Grinspoon and John Thomas Foley, visited Bai Tu Long Bay and Ha Long Bay on a private yacht, staying overnight in a private area. Notably, in 2025, Quang Ninh plans to host the event "Art for Climate - Ha Long Bay 2025" with about 200 billionaires from around the world attending. The super yachts will anchor on beautiful sandy beaches between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, creating a luxurious space for exchange.
Despite its great potential, tourism exploitation in Bai Tu Long Bay and the connection between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay still faces many challenges such as: Port infrastructure in Minh Chau, Quan Lan, and Ban Sen is not yet complete; the distance from Ha Long Port to Bai Tu Long Bay is far (6-7 hours), causing limitations in organizing day tours. Cam Pha City does not have its own tourist port, affecting the connection of the itinerary. In addition, accessing the international market requires a long time for effective promotion.
To overcome these limitations, Quang Ninh focuses on strategic solutions: Improving the quality of the fleet, completing tourism infrastructure, developing unique products, expanding international promotion and attracting investment in ports and tourism services. At the same time, the province promotes the protection of landscapes and ecosystems, ensuring sustainable development. These steps are expected to raise the level of tourism in Ha Long and Bai Tu Long bays, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
