On June 14, Dong Nai Provincial Police decided to impose an administrative penalty without making a record against Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited for two violations related to consumer rights protection and advertising. The total fine is 80 million VND.

According to the police agency, Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited was determined to have provided false, incomplete, and inaccurate information on one of the contents stipulated in the Law on Consumer Protection. In addition, the company also used words such as "first", "only", "best" or words with similar meanings without legal documents to prove it as prescribed. The police agency also requested Nestlé Vietnam Company to remove, delete the illegal advertisements or recall the newspaper and magazine products printed with the illegal advertisements within 10 days from the date of receiving the penalty decision.

Regarding this, a representative of Nestlé Vietnam said that during 30 years of operation in Vietnam, the Company has been making efforts to implement many programs contributing to sustainable and inclusive development, while always setting the goal of accompanying the development and prosperity of the country.

In 2022-2023, the Company cooperated with the Institute of Nutrition to implement a scientific research project to study the effectiveness of physicaleducation combined with the use of Nestlé MILO products. Nestlé Vietnam and the Institute of Nutrition also jointly organized a workshop to announce the results of this research project on January 31, 2024 and the Company carried out the communication after carefully reviewing the relevant regulations.

"When we realized that there were many different understandings of the relevant regulations and guidance documents, we proactively suspended the communication activities of this product and proactively sent a dispatch to the management agency asking for guidance. During the process of working with the authorities, Nestlé MILO advertising was instructed to clarify some information according to regulations. We look at this issue with a spirit of openness and compliance with the law," said a representative of Nestlé Vietnam.

Regarding the official conclusions of the authorities, a representative of Nestlé Vietnam said that the company is committed to implementing corrective and remedial measures in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. At the same time, it will continue to cooperate with state management agencies and the business community to contribute to the development of more complete policy frameworks and legal regulations to protect the interests of consumers as well as create favorable conditions for businesses to operate and contribute to the overall development of the economy.
