Russia denies Elon Musk and Putin exchanged secrets

(Dan Tri) - The Kremlin spoke out after the US media reported on rumors that billionaire Elon Musk had secret conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on October 25 denied a Wall Street Journal report that Elon Musk had secretly contacted Putin and other senior Russian officials. According to Peskov, this false information was likely spread because of the billionaire's role in the US presidential election on November 15. The American billionaire and the Russian president had a single phone call before the conflict in Ukraine escalated into war in February 2022, Peskov emphasized. "Most likely, it is just disinformation in the tense US election. The race is in the final stages and all sides can do anything," he speculated. The Wall Street Journal article published on October 24 discussed Musk's role as a private contractor for the US military, his stance on the Ukraine conflict and his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump's re-election campaign. The US newspaper said that the billionaire's public statements about resolving the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, which he has made since late 2022, "reflect some aspects of" the Kremlin's position. The article quoted "current and former US, European and Russian officials" as saying that the calls "between Mr. Musk and Mr. Putin are a closely guarded secret within the government ." A few weeks ago, there were reports that Mr. Trump had also secretly contacted Mr. Putin. The Russian president has denied that he and Mr. Trump remained in contact after the former US president left the White House in 2021. In recent weeks, billionaire Musk has done everything he can to support Mr. Trump, including donating more than $ 100 million and appearing at campaign rallies.
