Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum, which took place from February 20-21 in Moscow. The event brought together leading experts, scientists and technology entrepreneurs to discuss new advances in science and technology applications.

At the forum, President Putin emphasized that chemistry and new materials play a key role in human development.

To realize this strategy, Russia plans to increase investment in science and technology to 2% of GDP. From 2025, Russia will implement national projects in the field of chemistry and new materials, with a total budget of 170 billion rubles from the federal budget (2025-2030) and 1,000 billion rubles from investments by production and manufacturing enterprises.

President Putin stressed that international cooperation in science and technology is an important factor in strengthening the multipolar world order. He particularly highlighted the role of the BRICS group of leading emerging economies as an important platform for economic, social and technological cooperation among developing countries in the Southern Hemisphere.

In addition, he proposed that the theme of the next Future Technology Forum should focus on the bioeconomy – a new trend that is important for global growth. This idea received consensus from many scientists attending.

Physicist Mikhail Kovalchuk - President of the Kurchatov Academy of Sciences - believes that Russia's future technology will develop in two main directions: natural-like technology, simulating and reproducing the processes of living systems; and life-oriented technology, more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

President Putin affirmed: "It is no coincidence that the world is focusing on biotechnology, genetics and renewable materials. We are witnessing the formation of a bioeconomy - a new reality for humanity."

On the final day of the forum, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the technology exhibition, which showcased the latest innovations from high-tech companies and startups across Russia. Major Russian corporations also brought groundbreaking products, demonstrating the country's scientific and technological potential.
