The shipment included 58 rescue boats and work boats, 1,000 sets of dishes, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 sets of bed linen, 55 tents and many canned foods, with a total weight of about 29 tons. The shipment was transported on the special aircraft SUM 9121 of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation, landing at 6:35 a.m. on October 30.
At a working session with Hue city leaders on the evening of October 28, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep said that immediately after receiving information about the particularly serious floods in Hue, the Russian Embassy in Vietnam proactively requested the Russian Government to provide emergency support to people in the flooded areas.
“This is a meaningful gift, demonstrating the sincere feelings and traditional friendship between the Government and people of the Russian Federation and Vietnam, contributing to sharing difficulties with the people of Hue in times of trouble,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep emphasized.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, all relief goods will be transported to Hue city on October 30 to promptly distribute to households severely affected by floods.
