At that time, a young man who was live streaming on Bach Dang walking street discovered a little boy among the rubbish floating on the river, and immediately called for help. At that time, the Han River was rising and flowing rapidly.

Mr. Tran Trong Tuan (residing in Hoa Khanh ward, Da Nang city), one of the people who directly rescued the child, said that the child was discovered near the foot of the Dragon bridge, in front of the Cham Sculpture Museum.

“When we heard the shouts, another young man and I climbed over the railing, grabbed the iron edge, and leaned out to grab the child’s hand that was trying to lift up. After a few seconds of struggling, with the help of another person, the three of us pulled the boy onto the sidewalk. The whole process took only about 45 seconds,” said Tran Trong Tuan.

When brought to shore, the boy was panicked and unable to speak. People quickly provided first aid and posted information on social media to find relatives. About 15 minutes later, the boy's family (living in An Hai ward, on the other side of the Han River) came to receive the boy and took him to the hospital for a health check.
