Social insurance sector strengthens network security on the occasion of National Day September 2

Vietnam Social Security has issued Official Dispatch No. 2070/BHXH-CNTT on strengthening network information security during the National Day holiday on September 2.

The document stated that the important event of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 is a sensitive time for hackers to take advantage of and increase cyber attacks. The main targets are information systems of state agencies and organizations.

In addition, recently, it has been discovered that many accounts of citizens and businesses used to access online public services and accounts of Vietnam Social Security users used to access the professional application system have had their information leaked on cyberspace.

To ensure information security, maintain stable and smooth operation of information systems, and serve people and businesses during the National Day holiday on September 2, Vietnam Social Security requires units to strengthen the implementation of information security for information systems under their management as follows.

Firstly, proactively update all patches for all servers, workstations and devices in the unit's network system; review and thoroughly fix vulnerabilities and weaknesses in information systems under management, especially vulnerabilities and weaknesses that have been warned.

Second, thoroughly raise awareness of basic skills on information security and prevention of fraud in cyberspace; skills to protect information systems containing personal information and data for all officers and employees of the unit. Resolutely and thoroughly handle cases of leaked passwords, spam emails, use of unauthorized tools to access information systems, and improper retrieval of business data.

Third, regularly monitor the unit's information security system and anti-malware system to detect and handle malware warnings and promptly fix information security incidents; prioritize reviewing and handling servers, workstations, accounts, IP addresses, domain names, etc. in the botnet list or warnings in the monthly information security reports of Vietnam Social Security.

Fourth, educate people to improve their skills in protecting their accounts and personal information in cyberspace. Provide guidance and support to people and businesses whose accounts have been leaked to log in to the Online Public Service Portal and inform them of the new account security policy of the Vietnam Social Security that has been implemented on the Online Public Service Portal.

Fifth, monitor, receive and process warning information from Vietnam Social Security (through the Information Technology and Digital Transformation Center) to promptly detect risks and signs of exploitation and cyber attacks and be ready to deploy plans and strategies to respond to cyber attacks in case of incidents.

Sixth, assign information security officers of the unit to regularly and continuously monitor during the holidays to ensure early detection of cyber attack risks, timely response, handling and resolution of information security incidents.
