According to the Traffic Police Department, on the first day of 2025, there were 51 traffic accidents nationwide, resulting in 28 deaths and 35 injuries.

Of these, 50 accidents occurred on roads, resulting in 27 deaths and 35 injuries; 1 accident occurred on the railway, resulting in 1 death; and there were no accidents on waterways.

Local traffic police forces inspected, detected, and handled nearly 13,600 cases of traffic safety violations; the estimated fines amounted to nearly 28 billion VND; 82 cars, 4,050 motorcycles, and 111 other vehicles were temporarily seized; and 2,603 ​​driver's licenses of various types were revoked.

Among these, there were 2,789 cases of drunk driving; 3,105 cases of speeding; 241 cases of overloading; 34 cases of exceeding size limits; and 43 cases of drug-related violations.

Highway traffic control patrol teams under the Traffic Police Department inspected and recorded 195 violations, imposing fines (expected) of 684.8 million VND, revoking 94 driver's licenses, and temporarily seizing 4 vehicles.
