The “Bamboo Diplomacy ” school is a strategic and valuable concept in international relations. This is the opinion of former Deputy National Security Advisor of India SD Pradhan in an interview with VNA reporters in New Delhi.
According to Mr. Pradhan, the “Bamboo Diplomacy” identity provides a framework for decision-making and creating concrete action plans.
This diplomatic school reflects Vietnam's firm policy and flexible foreign policy based on Ho Chi Minh's ideology and national and ethnic interests.
“Bamboo Diplomacy” shows that Vietnam emphasizes the role of multilateralism in solving global problems.
Mr. Pradhan said that in recent times, the "Bamboo Diplomacy" school has helped Vietnam achieve important foreign affairs achievements in the context of a complex and volatile world situation.
“Bamboo Diplomacy” helps enhance Vietnam's position in the international arena and ensure the country's economic growth.
Specifically, with this diplomatic school, Vietnam has established strategic partnerships with countries in different blocs and ensured the maintenance of independence to protect national interests.
In terms of economic benefits, the “Bamboo Diplomacy” identity has made Vietnam one of the fastest growing economies.
In 2022, Vietnam's growth rate is 8.02%, exceeding the forecast of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB). Vietnam's total import and export turnover is estimated at 732.5 billion USD, up 9.5% compared to 2021.
From these achievements, Mr. Pradhan affirmed that the “Bamboo Diplomacy” school should be considered as a research topic by academic institutions and should be widely disseminated.
Regarding Vietnam's contributions to international issues, Mr. Pradhan said that Vietnam has made an important contribution to creating a peaceful and prosperous environment, especially as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term and Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2020.

During its tenure, Vietnam chaired more than 30 meetings to discuss security issues in the Middle East, Syria, Colombia, the Central African Republic and West Africa; and reviewed the activities of UN peacekeeping missions and special political missions in Yemen, the Republic of Cyprus and Libya.
Referring to the relationship between Vietnam and India in recent times, Mr. SD Pradhan said that the two countries have a common approach.
Accordingly, the two countries emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security in economic growth and the role of multilateralism. Both countries also have friendly relations with countries in different blocs.
According to Mr. Pradhan, India and Vietnam need to continue to coordinate actions at multilateral forums to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
In addition, the two countries need to focus more on developing into manufacturing/processing hubs to promote their role as trade bridges between the East and the West.
Besides, Vietnam and India also need to strengthen cooperation in developing advanced technology to promote economic growth and strengthen cooperation in the defense sector./.
