Releasing aquatic species to regenerate aquatic resources

STO - On May 16, the Department of Fisheries of Soc Trang province (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province) organized the release of aquatic seeds to regenerate aquatic resources in Chau Thanh district and Vinh Chau town. Attending were representatives of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment; leaders of the provincial Department of Fisheries, related units under the department; leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Chau Thanh district and Vinh Chau town.

Launching a movement for the entire population to participate in protecting and regenerating aquatic resources and maintaining aquatic seed release activities in local waters in the province to restore, regenerate and develop aquatic resources, every year the Department of Fisheries of Soc Trang province organizes many aquatic seed release campaigns back to nature. During the 2025 inland aquatic seed release campaign, at the canal section intersecting Phu Tan and Phu Tam communes, Chau Thanh district on May 16, the unit released 36,000 snakehead fish fry back to nature; at the same time, at the canal section near Lai Hoa commune People's Committee, Vinh Chau town, 25,000 crab fry were also released back to nature.

Comrade Lu Tan Hoa - Deputy Head of the Department of Fisheries of Soc Trang province informed that due to the impact of climate change and the increase in industrial and agricultural production, along with the exploitation of humans in the form of destruction, the aquatic resources in nature are increasingly scarce. Therefore, over the past many years, the Department of Fisheries of the province has organized to mobilize philanthropists and donors to join hands with the unit to contribute to buying aquatic products to release into the wild, with the aim of balancing the ecosystem in nature, regenerating the rich and diverse inland aquatic resources. Thereby, propagating to the people in the localities, aquatic exploitation needs to be preserved and developed for future generations to enjoy.
