According to TASS news agency, on April 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Beijing, China, to begin an official visit to this Asian country.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Foreign Minister Lavrov is expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing. In particular, the two sides will discuss the situation in Ukraine and the Asia-Pacific region, issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction in the international arena.

This trip by the Russian Foreign Minister may be to prepare for Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China scheduled for next May.
The Russian Foreign Minister's visit to China is scheduled to last until April 9. Previously, Mr. Lavrov visited Beijing in October 2023. During the visit, Mr. Lavrov and Chinese officials discussed efforts to promote cooperation in the Eurasian region.
