(Dan Tri) – Prolonged heavy rain has put the residential area on Me Suot Street (Lien Chieu District, Da Nang ) at risk of flooding. People are so scared that they have hurriedly raised their furniture to avoid damage.

According to Dan Tri reporters, on the morning of September 18, due to the influence of a tropical depression, there was heavy rain in Da Nang city, many central roads were flooded. Some residential areas on Me Suot street (Hoa Khanh Nam ward, Lien Chieu district) - the "flooding hot spot" of Da Nang - are showing signs of flooding.

The Me Suot Street area has been heavily flooded many times, with water levels rising to about 1.5m. In the most recent flood, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward evacuated more than 4,000 households.

Hearing the news of heavy rain, Mr. Hanh (living in Group 37, Me Suot Street) asked for leave from work to collect all his clothes and belongings, put them in plastic bags, then had them transported to his relatives' house. After school and work, his wife and children would go to their relatives' house to avoid the storm. Behind Mr. Hanh is a moldy wall after the historic flood in 2022.

Ms. Ngoc (residing in Group 35, Me Suot Street) also hurriedly moved her belongings upstairs after seeing signs of rising water. Ms. Ngoc said that this year, after learning from her experience of moving all her belongings up high, she will move early to her relatives' house to avoid the storm.

Located in a low position on Me Suot Street, this morning (September 18), Mr. Tran Phuoc Quy (59 years old, residing in group 35) hired someone to quickly weld an iron shelf to raise the refrigerator and washing machine.

Mr. Quy would bring clothes and light items upstairs to store. When it rained heavily and the water rose, he and his wife and children would take refuge upstairs.

Residents are also placing items that could get wet as high as possible.

Objects that can be swept away by flood water will be stored in the highest place by people.

As early as yesterday (September 17), when there was information that there would be heavy rain, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (resident of group 37) rented a nearly 2m high iron construction frame to prop up his belongings and goods.

People in this area also moved their vehicles outside, to higher ground, to avoid being submerged in water.

The water in the only ditch next to Me Suot Street is rising, just a few meters from the shore. The water flow here mainly comes from the mountains, while the drainage system is not guaranteed, so it is very easy to cause flooding.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 7:00 a.m. on September 18, the center of the tropical depression was about 220km east of Hoang Sa archipelago.
The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting to level 9; moving mainly west at a speed of about 15 km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression is likely to strengthen into storm number 4 , level 8 intensity, gust level 10.
At 7:00 a.m. on September 19, the center of storm No. 4 was about 210 km east-southeast of Quang Tri and about 120 km east of Da Nang. The storm was at level 8, gusting to level 10.
In the next hours, storm No. 4 will make landfall in the Quang Binh - Quang Tri province area and gradually weaken into a tropical depression.
