The road to Nam Vac village is seriously degraded. |
Actual records show that many sections of the road are deeply sunken, full of water holes and thick mud. Only trucks with high chassis can move, while motorbikes often get stuck. Villagers compare traveling on this section of road to "driving in the fields". To temporarily fix the problem, villagers have opened a small path close to the embankment, about 1m wide, higher than the road surface so that motorbikes can pass. However, this is only a temporary solution and poses many risks when landslides occur, especially on days of prolonged heavy rain.
According to the people of Nam Vac village: Whenever it rains, the roads are as muddy as fields, making it difficult for motorbikes to travel, sometimes having to walk for kilometers. To transport construction materials, trucks must be hired, and the transportation fee doubles. Many poor households cannot afford to buy materials to repair their houses. Traders also force down the prices of agricultural products because the roads are difficult to travel.
To reach the commune center, people in Nam Vac village have to go through many muddy sections. |
The entire Nam Vac village currently has 76 households, of which 52 are poor and near-poor; nearly 100% are Nung ethnic people. The long-term deterioration of roads is hindering the efforts of the people to develop the economy and reduce poverty. Going to school, going to the doctor or trading are all seriously affected, especially during the rainy and stormy season.
People hope that local authorities and relevant agencies will soon pay attention and support investment in upgrading the road. Completing the transport infrastructure will not only help improve the quality of life, but also create a premise for Nam Vac to escape poverty in a sustainable way.
