The gift is part of the world's richest man's effort to help former President Donald Trump win the upcoming election. According to The Hill and Sky News, the Tesla boss is backing America PAC - a political action committee he founded to support Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's bid for the White House. In a statement on social network X, billionaire Elon Musk wrote: "Every day, from now until November 5, America PAC will give $1 million to anyone in swing states who signs our petition to support free speech and the right to bear arms. We want to make sure that everyone in swing states knows about this information." The petition states: "The First and Second Amendments of the Constitution guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. By signing here, I express my support for these two documents." The first $1 million was given to a man named John Dreher at a campaign event in Pennsylvania on October 19. According to Forbes, Elon Musk is the richest person in the world with a net worth of $274 billion. So the $17 million he announced he would give away is just a small fraction of his fortune. The Hill wrote that billionaire Elon Musk has acted as a "megaphone" for Mr. Trump's thoughts, tone and words on social networks like X. Since July, Mr. Elon Musk has contributed at least $75 million to America PAC, making this political action group an important part of Mr. Trump's re-election campaign. America PAC is one of many large political action committees in the US. US lawmakers like Senator John Fetterman have acknowledged that billionaire Elon Musk can attract a demographic that Democrats have difficulty reaching. Former President Donald Trump has said he would offer billionaire Elon Musk a government job if he is re-elected.Vietnamnet.vn
