Van Don Special Economic Zone currently has 30 seafood processing facilities, including 2 deep processing facilities applying high technology. Recently, due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi , some facilities encountered difficulties in raw material sources and had to temporarily suspend operations.
Most of the current processing facilities are located in residential areas, which is not suitable for the industrial and service development planning of the special zone. Many small-scale facilities do not have wastewater and solid waste treatment systems, leading to the risk of environmental pollution and affecting the lives of surrounding residents.
This also makes it difficult for facilities to expand production, unable to apply science and technology or invest in deep processing.

After inspecting and reviewing the reality, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of the special zone, emphasized: Van Don has great potential and advantages in developing fisheries, especially aquaculture and seafood processing. However, to increase the value and develop the fisheries industry sustainably, especially the processing stage, the current small and scattered processing facilities need to move into concentrated operations in the Van Don Industrial Cluster - an area that has been planned synchronously for the processing, production and logistics services of the fisheries industry.
Organizing concentrated production in industrial clusters will help strengthen environmental management, food safety and technical infrastructure, while creating conditions for businesses to invest systematically, expand scale, improve productivity, and form a closed production - processing - consumption chain, thereby increasing the value and competitiveness of the special zone's seafood products.

The Secretary of Van Don Special Zone requested the People's Committee of the special zone and functional departments and offices to continue to direct and urge the management unit of Van Don Industrial Cluster to speed up the progress of completing technical infrastructure, especially the internal traffic system, electricity, water supply and drainage and centralized wastewater treatment area that meet standards, ensuring favorable conditions for processing facilities to soon relocate, stabilize and develop production.
Mr. Huy also encouraged businesses to invest in deep processing, apply high technology, aiming to increase added value for products, develop the seafood processing industry in a modern and sustainable direction, in line with the development orientation of the blue marine economy of Quang Ninh province.
