Environmental protection in livestock farming is emphasized. Most farms have invested in modern waste treatment systems such as biogas tanks, manure separator machines, biological bedding, air filtration systems, biogas power generation, and microbial fertilizer production for crop cultivation, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving soil.
Along with that, the province is implementing the Project "Building a model for producing multi-spurred chicken breeds in Tan Son district from selected genetic resources", preserving native breeds and developing local specialty products.
Biosafety pig farming models associated with product processing and consumption have been deployed in many localities. At the same time, a digital transformation model in pig farming on a scale of 1,000 pigs is being piloted, aiming towards modern, smart and sustainable farming.
Up to now, the whole province has 55 cooperatives and 6 cooperative groups participating in livestock breeding, linking production and product consumption. Many safe food supply chains have been formed; typical livestock products such as Thanh Son sour meat, Tan Son multi-spur chicken, and Lac Thuy chicken have been protected by intellectual property rights, affirming their brands in the market.
Mr. Bui Duy Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho, emphasized that the agricultural sector will continue to develop livestock farming in the direction of biosafety, applying high technology, gradually reducing small-scale livestock farming, increasing the rate of concentrated livestock farming to 50-60% of the total herd. At the same time, strengthening breed management, food safety, waste treatment and promoting digital transformation in livestock farming, towards green, sustainable and effective agriculture.
Mr. Linh added that the Department will accompany businesses, cooperatives and livestock households in supporting access to capital, transferring technology, expanding consumption markets and improving the competitiveness of the province's livestock products.
