On November 5, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) and Vietnam Fumigation Joint Stock Company (VFC) signed a cooperation agreement to implement the Project on developing production and use of biological pesticides until 2030, with a vision to 2050, to promote the application of biotechnology, contributing to building a green, safe and sustainable agriculture.

The event marks a new step forward in connecting state management agencies and businesses to realize the goal of developing ecological agriculture , reducing emissions and increasing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

According to the agreement, VFC - a business with nearly 50 years of experience in the field of plant protection drugs, disinfection and pest control - will accompany the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection in training programs, communication and building models for the use of biological plant protection drugs.

Specifically, in the 2025 - 2030 period, the two sides plan to organize 10,000 training courses for 500,000 farmers and 10,000 pesticide trading establishments in 34 provinces and cities across the country.

The training content focuses on instructions on the safe and effective use of plant protection drugs, prioritizing biological and organic products, as well as applying pest control processes on key crops such as rice, coffee, durian, pepper and fruit trees.

In addition, agents and distributors will also be trained on the responsibility of guiding farmers in using pesticides properly, contributing to minimizing the risk of pollution and chemical residue in agricultural products.

In the first two years (2025 - 2026), VFC will deploy about 12 safe and low-emission farming models in key areas such as An Giang , Dong Thap, Lam Dong and Dak Lak.

The “integrated field” models on coffee and durian will be a place to demonstrate biological plant protection solutions and sustainable farming processes, helping farmers access new technologies right at the local level. The company also aims to increase its biological plant protection product portfolio by 20%, and register and distribute 3-5 new biological products each year.

Mr. Huynh Tan Dat, Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, emphasized that promoting the use of biological pesticides is an inevitable trend in the process of transitioning to green agriculture and international integration.

“The Department always encourages pioneering enterprises to invest in biotechnology, and works with management agencies to raise awareness and support farmers in applying safe production processes, thereby contributing to reducing emissions and protecting public health and the ecosystem,” he said.

Mr. Truong Cong Cu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VFC, affirmed the company’s commitment to accompany farmers in using pesticides responsibly, safely and effectively. He said that VFC will spend about 5 billion VND per year on training, communication and model building activities within the framework of this cooperation.

“We believe that the connection between businesses, management agencies and farmers will create sustainable value for Vietnamese agriculture, both improving productivity and protecting the environment,” he shared.

The recently signed agreement not only has technical significance but also contributes to concretizing the orientation of the Strategy for Sustainable Agricultural and Rural Development for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, including proactively using biological pesticide production technology and expanding the consumption and application network nationwide.

The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection and VFC agreed to establish a joint working group to monitor, coordinate and evaluate the progress of the annual cooperation program. Both sides expect the program to spread to each growing area, forming a core network of farmers in the use of biological pesticides, creating a foundation for the green transformation of the crop production industry in the next decade.
