Nguyen Quynh Nhi - Uncle Ho's Good Grandchild spreads the love of books

BAC GIANG - At the opening ceremony of Bac Giang Province's Book and Reading Culture Day held a few days ago, the Organizing Committee of the 2025 online reading contest awarded the first prize in the middle school category to Nguyen Quynh Nhi, class 8A, Dai Lam Middle School (Lang Giang). Nhi is an excellent, multi-talented student who loves to read and actively spreads the reading culture in schools and the community.

The 2025 online book reading contest organized by the Provincial Youth Union with the theme "Uncle Ho with children - Bac Giang children compete to follow Uncle Ho's 5 teachings" attracted nearly 1,700 students to participate. Quynh Nhi's work was made in the form of a 10-minute video introducing the book "Uncle Ho with children" compiled by author Tue Minh.

With a confident appearance, attractive storytelling style, and an inspiring voice, Quynh Nhi shared the content of the book, her feelings about the meaning and message of the book. The pages of the book are stories about Uncle Ho's warm feelings for children at home and abroad; Uncle Ho's letters and teachings for the children.

Nhi confided: “I want to introduce this book for everyone to read to understand more about the great personality of President Ho Chi Minh . He devoted his whole life to serving the country and the people; he is an exemplary model of morality, personality, and lifestyle for all generations of cadres, party members, and people to learn and follow. In particular, everyone can see the immense love that Uncle Ho has for the young generation. Although he is busy with a thousand and one things, the great leader always cares about children - the future owners of the country.”

As the eldest of four children, Nhi became independent early on, helping her parents with many tasks such as looking after her younger siblings, cooking, cleaning the house, etc. Every day, after finishing her housework, Nhi sits at the table and studies diligently. Her mother, Quynh, said: “We have many children and our family is not well off. However, my husband and I are reassured because she is well-behaved, self-disciplined, and does not let her parents remind her to study; she always shares and helps her parents with some household chores, setting an example for her younger siblings to follow.”

In all her school years, Nhi has been an excellent student. In grade 7, she won first prize in the district-level excellent student competition in Literature. The student also "sings well and speaks well", won third prize in the provincial Golden Microphone (MC) competition; reached the final round of the national MC competition; third prize in the district-level "Melody of Youth" competition... With outstanding results in studying and working in the Team, in early April, Quynh Nhi was recognized as a Good Child of Uncle Ho in Bac Giang province for the period 2020-2025. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Head of the Team of Dai Lam Secondary School, commented: "Nhi is an excellent team leader, actively participating in the school and Team movements, ready to take on difficult tasks and strive to complete them well."

Nhi is not afraid to participate in group activities because she sees it as an opportunity to practice, learn and improve herself. She feels lucky because her parents and teachers care for and guide her. Although her father is busy, he still takes time every week to take her to clubs to hone her singing and hosting skills to develop Nhi's strengths.

With love and gratitude for Uncle Ho, Nhi always reminds herself to follow his teachings, study hard, work hard, and read books. Each page of the book is not only an interesting story but also a simple lesson about life that helps her nurture her rich thinking and imagination. Thanks to that, she has supplemented her knowledge and skills, and achieved good academic results. As the Team Leader, Nhi often encourages her friends to read together; build bookshelves, reading corners in the classroom and share good books with each other; and is always the leader in activities and discussions about books. She also actively donates books to disadvantaged students with her friends, contributing to spreading the reading culture in the community.
