On December 29, at the People's Committee of An Khanh Ward (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), a meeting was held between residents and relevant units in the case of 12 houses of residents on Road No. 18 being cracked and sunk due to road digging robots for the XL07 project, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project - Phase 2. The meeting content was for residents to hear the results of the appraisal, as well as discuss plans for repair, remediation and compensation. However, the meeting was postponed due to "force majeure". It is expected that from January 3 to 5, 2024, the parties will meet again with the residents.
Inspection work at a resident's house on Road No. 18
According to residents, since October 25, the Center for Housing Management and Construction Inspection (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction) has repeatedly inspected 12 houses that were blocked, sunken, and tilted due to road digging robots. During the inspection and waiting for results, house 1D on street number 18 had a new crack behind the house, house number 15 had a blocked septic tank, and the bedroom of house number 7 had a new crack.
Check the subsidence of houses on road number 18
Regarding this issue, the Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board said that according to the inspection outline, it will conduct 4 subsidence monitoring cycles within 40 days. The inspection work will start from October 25 to December 5. The independent inspection unit will synthesize, analyze, evaluate and is expected to report the appraisal results from December 11 to 15. However, in reality, there is a delay of more than 2 weeks compared to the plan due to the need to apply the new unit price of December 2023 in the work of making compensation value estimates. It is expected that the results will be reported from December 29 to January 5, 2024.
As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, the XL07 package belongs to the Ho Chi Minh City environmental sanitation project - phase 2, invested by the Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board; Joint Venture of Hai Duong Dike Construction - Rural Development Joint Stock Company and Ban Hin Electrical Engineering - Construction Company Limited (main contractor), Sunjin Consulting Joint Venture and Keco (supervision consultant). During the construction process, the main contractor used robots to dig tunnels and install underground pipes, causing 12 houses on Road No. 18 to crack, sink, and tilt. The fact that houses cracked and sank due to road digging robots has made many people confused, scared, and demanded that relevant agencies and units take responsibility for handling and compensating.
