Red Lantern, the Vietnamese restaurant known as the 'world's most awarded' in Australia, has just announced that it will serve its last meal before closing, leaving diners with regret.

On its official fanpage, Red Lantern restaurant began its closure announcement with these emotional lines: "It is with mixed emotions that we announce today that our beloved Red Lantern - the world's most awarded Vietnamese restaurant and an icon of Sydney's culinary scene - will close its 25-year journey on November 22, 2025, marking the end of an impressive journey of food, family and storytelling."

According to Red Lantern restaurant, over the years, this is not only a restaurant but also a place to preserve flavors with tireless efforts, welcoming thousands of diners and receiving endless international praise for the harmony between culture, community and cuisine .

However, the restaurant also hinted that this is "not the end" but a special milestone to look back on Red Lantern's extraordinary legacy and look forward with new projects.

Who is behind the "world's most awarded" Vietnamese restaurant?

Red Lantern is located in Darlinghurst, Sydney (Australia) and was co-founded by celebrity chef Luke Nguyen, known for his role as a judge on Master Chef Vietnam, his sister Pauline Nguyen and partner Mark Jensen.

On the occasion of its farewell, Red Lantern said it will organize many special events and experiences to honor the beauty of cuisine, culture and the art of storytelling through food.

Below the restaurant’s closure notice, many netizens were surprised by this decision. Many regular diners here expressed their regret, reminded of the memories they had, and sent Red Lantern their best wishes.

Australian diner Christine Hammond said: "I was so sad to read this and will definitely be visiting the restaurant one last time! Very few restaurants in Sydney have been in business for 25 years, let alone have had the incredible journey your restaurant has had! That in itself is a huge achievement. You definitely deserve a break after all those years of hard work."

"Wishing you all the best on your next journey. Thank you again for providing us with warm meals with family and friends. It was an unforgettable experience," shared account Tracey Cullen.

Diner Denise Gorrel expressed her sadness as the restaurant said goodbye: "Congratulations on the legacy you all have built. Dining at Red Lantern is always a wonderful experience. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to dine at your wonderful restaurant and wish you all the best in the future."
