Episode 109 of the program Vietnamese Family Home with the participation of two guests, designer Do Manh Cuong and actress Nha Phuong, will join hands to help three situations: Tran Thi Thanh Truc, La Thi Tuyet and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. They are all having to overcome harsh challenges after losing their loved ones.

Nha Phuong said she was very grateful to have the opportunity to return to her homeland to participate in a meaningful program like Vietnamese Family Home , to have the opportunity to help orphans. The actress expressed her wish to return to the program again, that time she will participate with her husband Truong Giang, to do her best to share with those in difficult circumstances.

The first case is Tran Thi Thanh Truc (2015), a student at Van Phuoc Primary School, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province. Thanh Truc's father died in 2023 due to a drowning accident. Currently, she, her mother and younger sister depend on each other.

“Back then, I wanted to cook for my father myself, but because I was still young, I couldn’t reach the kitchen. Now that I’m taller and can cook for myself, my father is no longer here, so I can only cook for my mother. I remember my father promised that when I studied well, he would take me out to play. But now, I’m an excellent student and can only show off my certificate in front of my father’s altar,” Thanh Truc emotionally shared.

Thanh Truc's mother, Tran Thi Cam Loan (1991), is working as a dishwasher for a restaurant in the market, earning 50,000 VND per session. In addition, she also sews aprons at home to earn extra money, earning about 500,000 VND per week. Thanh Truc's younger sister, Tran Thi Bich Tram (2017), is a second grader at Van Phuoc Primary School. Because she is still quite young and the school is far from home, Loan has to take her two children to and from school every day. Therefore, her job is not stable, and her income is also unstable.

Witnessing Thanh Truc's situation, actress Nha Phuong burst into tears, she hugged and kissed the foreheads of the three children. "I think that one thing that Loan can be happy and proud of is that the two children are young but very understanding. Listening to her share, I didn't think that a 9-year-old child would think about helping her mother, loving and wanting to take care of her mother so much. I believe that everyone is here to help our family overcome the difficulties ahead ," the actress said.

Designer Do Manh Cuong shared: “When you become a parent and witness the situation of children without a father or mother by their side, it is truly a great deprivation. Just like my children without a mother, I have to be both a father and a mother to take care of them. I understand Loan's situation very well. Seeing children so young, at the age of studying and playing, thinking about having to earn money to take care of their mother later makes me very emotional” . Because he sympathizes with the image of a mother struggling to raise her children alone, Do Manh Cuong decided to support Thanh Truc and her sister's tuition until they are 18 years old. At the same time, knowing that Truc loves cooking, he also promised to support her to continue studying to become a chef as she dreams. Nha Phuong continued, she promised that when Thanh Truc has summer vacation, she can come to Ho Chi Minh City to visit and stay at her house, her husband Truong Giang will be the one to teach her how to cook.

The next case is La Thi Tuyet (2015), a Tay ethnic, a student at Nguyen Hue Primary School, Cu Jut District, Dak Nong Province. Tuyet's father died 3 years ago from a snake bite in the middle of the night. At that time, her family was so poor that they did not have money to buy a coffin, so they had to ask the neighbors to donate money to buy one. Her mother, Be Bich Phuong, is mildly mentally disabled. After her husband lost his mind, she became increasingly less alert and then disappeared. Since then, Tuyet and her younger brother have been living with their grandparents, and the family's circumstances have been extremely difficult.

Tuyet's grandfather, La Van Hoan (born in 1962), has been mentally ill for 10 years and cannot work. He receives 700,000 VND in disability support each month. Her grandmother, Lieu Thi Hang (born in 1960), works as a farmer on a piece of land owned by her family. She grows corn, beans, and cashews, a little of each type, but because the land is increasingly barren, she cannot harvest much, earning only a few million VND each year, not enough for the family to spend. To support her family, Ms. Hang also takes on cashew nut peeling, earning 7,000 VND per kilo. She has to sit and peel cashew nuts until late at night to earn money to take care of the whole family. Because she is old and works continuously, Ms. Hang's health is getting worse and worse, and she cannot regularly take care of the small garden anymore.

Tuyet's younger brother, La Xuan Tuyen, was slow to learn and had to stay in first grade for three years. Tuyen was born with a disability and limped. He also had a tumor in his chest due to a calcium deficiency since he was young. He suffered from many illnesses, which made his bowel movements uncontrolled and his daily activities difficult. The whole family lived in a house built as a gift for the poor. The house was simple and had no valuables.

Designer Do Manh Cuong was heartbroken because Tuyet's situation was so unfortunate, the family had nothing, the mother left, the grandfather was mentally ill, the grandson had many illnesses, everything was shouldered by the grandmother who was nearly 70 years old. The designer decided to give the family 5 million VND each month to cover living expenses. He was also worried about the health of Tuyet's grandmother, the only breadwinner of the family. Therefore, he promised that if in the future the grandmother unfortunately passed away, he would take responsibility to continue taking care of Tuyet's education.

Actress Nha Phuong cried continuously because all the circumstances were too difficult. She was moved because the children lacked family affection, did not have complete love from their parents and also lacked material things. Seeing that Do Manh Cuong had supported living expenses, Truong Giang's wife decided to support the tuition fees for Tuyet and her sister to study until they were 18 years old.

Nha Phuong cried when sharing about her grandmother Tuyet's worries that one day she will lose her two children and there will be no one to take care of them.

The remaining situation is Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (2015), a student at Le Van Tam Primary School, M'Drak District, Dak Lak Province. Kim Ngan is an orphan. In 2020, her mother suffered a stroke and passed away suddenly after a hard day's work in the fields. A year later, her father fell ill and passed away due to extreme grief. Currently, Kim Ngan and her two brothers live under the protection of neighbors.

Kim Ngan's eldest brother, Nguyen Van Loi (2007), had to drop out of school to take care of his two younger siblings. However, Loi does not have a stable job, he does whatever he is hired to do, so his income is irregular. Recently, Loi was introduced by an acquaintance to work in another province to have a stable income to support his younger siblings. The second brother, Nguyen Van Danh (2009), is in 10th grade at Nguyen Truong To High School. Because the eldest brother works far from home, Danh and Ngan know how to take care of each other. The siblings' grandparents live nearby but are both over 70 years old. They only grow vegetables to sell and occasionally come over to look after their two young grandchildren.

After school, the children cook, do housework and study. All living expenses of the three brothers are covered by support from local charities and orphanage allowances of 700,000 VND/month/child. The house they live in was built more than 20 years ago and is now in serious disrepair, with termites eating the pillars, leaking ceilings and frequent rain.

Kim Ngan's saying "Every time I miss my parents, I look up to the sky, feeling like my parents are looking at me and smiling at me" made many people feel sorry. Nha Phuong once again could not control her emotions and burst into tears. If the two previous situations made many people sympathize, Kim Ngan's situation made many people feel even more sorry. The three children were orphans, living on their own, relying on each other, having to make an effort because there was no one to rely on. Nha Phuong hugged Kim Ngan to encourage her.

She shared with the audience: “I can’t imagine what the children must go through without their parents. Hearing that they have a dream of getting a good education makes me very emotional. Just like the two children before them, I will take care of Loi and Ngan’s tuition until they are 18 years old .

Designer Do Manh Cuong also choked up for a moment. He himself has 5 daughters, so he understands the difficulties that Ngan faces without her parents. He said he has set up a small fund to help orphans and promised that after the program, he will try to support them to rebuild new, warmer houses so that they can study in peace.

Coming to the challenge round of the program to bring home the prize money for the children. Both artists were very determined. Within 1 minute and 30 seconds of the sub-competition, designer Do Manh Cuong and actress Nha Phuong had to eat 2 plates of durian. Because he could not eat durian, Do Manh Cuong had to ask for help from his son, "Nhim".

As for Nha Phuong, she is known to be very disciplined in exercising and eating, so it is very difficult to see her eating a lot of durian at once. It seemed like she would refuse, but in order to give priority to the orphans, Truong Giang's wife ate a whole plate of durian in a hurry. Not stopping there, when she saw that Do Manh Cuong's adopted child seemed unable to eat any more, Truong Giang's wife turned to help. She even ate a half-eaten durian segment in the child's hand. Nha Phuong's beautiful action received a shower of compliments from the audience.

In the main competition, Do Manh Cuong and Nha Phuong took turns working with the children to perform a series of challenges. Accordingly, the players took the ball at the starting line, overcame the obstacles and then threw down all the models at the finish line. Because the program was filmed at a time when the weather was constantly changing, it suddenly rained heavily, but in order to bring valuable prizes to the children, Do Manh Cuong and Nha Phuong still braved the rain to perform the challenge. To run faster, Truong Giang's wife also took off her shoes and rolled up her pants. Designer Do Manh Cuong's adopted son also wore a raincoat to support the special competition.

Equally touching was the image of a large audience in Buon Ma Thuot City preparing raincoats and umbrellas to stay and watch the live recording and enthusiastically cheer for the artists. Many viewers also joined hands to donate cash to the families of the characters.

Local donors and audiences also joined hands to donate a total of more than 67 million VND to 3 families.
