“Clean house, beautiful alley” - From awareness to action

In the process of building new rural areas, maintaining a bright, green, clean and beautiful environment is not only a responsibility but also a cultural beauty in many localities. In the province, the model of "Clean house, beautiful alley", "Clean house, clean alley" launched by the Provincial Women's Union is spreading widely, contributing to improving the quality of life of rural people.

Women of Trieu Viet Vuong commune classify waste at households.

In An Tho village (Binh Nguyen commune), the model has been implemented since 2019 with 28 typical women's households recognized and attached with the sign "Clean house, beautiful alley". Thanks to the consensus of the members, people have gradually formed the habit of keeping clean, decorating their houses neatly, and taking care of the green flower path in front of their houses. Every 24th of every month or before holidays and Tet, women in the Association get together to clean up the alleys and take care of the flowers along the road. Initially, it was a movement, but now everyone is self-conscious, considering it a regular activity, contributing to keeping the village green, clean and beautiful. Not only participating in the general environmental cleaning, many households also proactively apply effective waste treatment measures, contributing to building a civilized and environmentally friendly lifestyle. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, Women's Association of Tu Te village said: My family always keeps the house clean, waste is classified at the source. I compost organic waste with biological products to fertilize plants, both saving money and protecting the environment. Since joining the model, I feel my living environment is cleaner and my spirit is happier.

The model of "Clean house, beautiful alley", deployed by the Women's Union of Binh Nguyen commune based on the criteria of the campaign "Building families of 5 no, 3 clean", "5 yes, 3 clean", associated with the goal of building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas. Up to now, the whole commune has 240 households recognized as meeting the criteria of "Clean house, beautiful alley"; 3 roads recognized as "Beautiful road, beautiful alley", contributing significantly to environmental sanitation and creating an increasingly better appearance of the homeland. Determining that it is necessary to do a good job of propaganda and mobilization from the grassroots, the women's unions have deployed the model without imposing but focusing on setting an example, selecting households as models and then replicating. At the same time, integrating the model into the association's activities, mobilizing women to participate with specific, practical tasks such as: cleaning, planting flowers, sorting waste, decorating houses, etc. Today's results are thanks to the high consensus of members and the participation of the whole community.

Up to now, Trieu Viet Vuong commune has 3,584 models with signs, becoming a bright spot in the work of protecting the rural environment. Ms. Do Thi Thanh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Trieu Viet Vuong commune said: Right from the first days of implementation, we have determined that the model building must come from practical needs and the voluntary spirit of the people. Women members play a core role, both propagating and mobilizing, and at the same time directly modeling in pioneering households. Thanks to that, after nearly 10 years of implementation, the models have not only been maintained but also developed strongly, in depth, contributing positively to the building of a cultural lifestyle, green, clean, beautiful landscape and meeting the standards of advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas.

The whole province currently has more than 22,600 households with the signs "Clean house, clean alley"; "Clean house, beautiful alley" and 18,900 households meeting the criteria of "Family of 5 no, 3 clean"; "5 yes, 3 clean". Women's unions at all levels have proactively propagated and mobilized cadres and members to classify and treat household waste at the source, contributing to reducing environmental pollution and creating a source of organic fertilizer for production. The model of "Clean house, clean alley", "Clean house, beautiful alley" not only has the meaning of beautifying the living space but is also a vivid expression of the change in awareness and action in each family, each residential area, contributing to building a new countryside that is increasingly spacious, civilized and modern.
