The church is located in Tuy An Dong commune, in the east of Dak Lak province, and was started by Father Joseph de La Cassagne, a French missionary. According to local people, the church was named after the Mang Lang forest, which was closely associated with the life of the local Catholic community.

The building is imbued with the Gothic style – an architectural style that began to develop in the second half of the Middle Ages in Western Europe and was popular until the end of the 16th century. In the late 19th century, when Catholicism began to spread in Vietnam, the construction of Mang Lang Church was an important milestone, demonstrating the cultural exchange between the East and the West.

The most special feature at Mang Lang Church is the place where the printed copy of "Eight-day Sermons" is kept, compiled by priest Alexandre de Rhodes - who played an important role in the creation and development of the national language in Vietnam.
The book is not only a religious document but also an important cultural heritage, marking a major turning point in the history of education and knowledge dissemination in Vietnam. This is the first tool to help popularize the national language, opening a new era in information transmission, education and communication.
