Replicating the model of high-tech agricultural cooperatives

Many agricultural cooperatives in the province have boldly invested in building infrastructure, gradually applying high technology (CNC) in production, preservation, preliminary processing, and product processing to help increase productivity, production efficiency, business and income of members.

As one of the pioneering cooperatives applying CNC in agricultural production, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative (Dong Son) has built a modern infrastructure and a value chain for production and consumption of high-quality vegetables, tubers and fruits.

Director of the Cooperative Nguyen Xuan Thien said: “Since 2018, the Cooperative has built a greenhouse system to produce safe vegetables, tubers and fruits. At the same time, it has installed an automatic irrigation system, misting, and temperature and humidity monitoring to save production costs and improve product quality. Thanks to the application of modern science and technology in production, the quality of the Cooperative's products meets VietGAP standards and is favored by the market and consumers. On average, the Cooperative supplies about 120 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits to the markets of Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Nghe An, etc. Annual revenue reaches 17 billion VND, with a profit of more than 20%”.

It is known that after a period of applying CNC to production, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative has built 11 greenhouses with a total area of ​​about 3.5 hectares to grow Kim Hoang Hau melons, baby cucumbers and safe vegetables. In early 2024, the Cooperative built nearly 2,000m2 of greenhouses to receive technology transfer, putting into production about 1,000m2 of Phalaenopsis orchids to serve the Tet market. By investing in the production of tissue culture orchid varieties, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative has affirmed its superiority in applying CNC to production.

The application of CNC in agricultural production has also been implemented by Tho Thanh General Service Cooperative (Thuong Xuan) for nearly 5 years. The Cooperative applies CNC in growing Kim Hoang Hau melons and safe vegetables, tubers and fruits in greenhouses according to VietGAP process. 100% of the Cooperative's production area applies CNC, from seed selection, sowing, germination, to commercial planting. Thanks to the constant attention to clean, safe, productive production and labor reduction, investment in building greenhouses, membrane houses, irrigation technology, is a top priority... Ms. Hoang Thi Lai, a member of the Cooperative, said: Since the Cooperative applied CNC in agricultural production, the production level and income of members have been raised. Not only participating in training and technology transfer, but producers also have access to modern production thinking, building sustainable chains associated with product traceability. Thanks to the application of CNC and the greenhouse and net house system, the products are less affected by the external environment, limit pests and diseases, have higher productivity than traditional production, and are highly appreciated by consumers and the market for their quality.

In fact, along with the desire to widely develop local agricultural products in the market, many other agricultural cooperatives in the province are also making efforts to affirm their position by promoting the application of modern scientific and technological advances in production. According to statistics from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Union, as of September 2024, there were about 150 agricultural cooperatives, farms and farming households applying CNC in the production process. From there, large-scale agricultural production areas were formed, applying CNC and value chains in the consumption of agricultural products. However, the application of CNC in production in the province's agricultural cooperatives is still small and scattered; trade promotion activities and market search for CNC agricultural products in cooperatives are not really effective. Notably, the economic potential of cooperatives is still weak, so there is not enough funding to invest, equip technical facilities and infrastructure for the application of CNC in production...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union Le Hong Hai said: In recent times, the Provincial Cooperative Union has organized many training courses for agricultural cooperatives to access modern science and technology. At the same time, it encourages cooperatives to proactively learn and apply new technical advances and CNC in production, in order to reduce costs, increase productivity, food safety and quality, and protect the environment. Along with that, the Provincial Cooperative Union has been promoting and guiding cooperatives to access capital from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund, contributing to creating resources for cooperatives to invest in developing production and business effectively.
