In preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women’s football team will train in Japan. This is an important step to help the team improve their physical strength and compete with high-quality teams.
During the meeting with the team on November 3, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan noted that the team's key task is to defend the regional championship and to accomplish this, the team needs to be well prepared both professionally and mentally. Mr. Tuan affirmed that the VFF will ensure the best logistics so that the team can focus completely on their professional skills.

According to the draw results, at the 33rd SEA Games, the women's team is in the same group as the Philippines, Myanmar and Malaysia. The group is considered not easy because the opponents have made strong progress, especially the Philippines with many naturalized players. Therefore, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan reminded the coaching staff and players to continue to research and analyze the opponents carefully to maximize the team's strengths.
The presence of young faces in this training session is highly appreciated by VFF leaders, contributing to bringing a new breeze to the women's team. VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan hopes that the players will always try their best, overcome their own limits, and maintain the spirit of solidarity - discipline - confidence.
Commenting on the newly called-up group of young players, coach Mai Duc Chung said that the training period is still short so they cannot fully integrate into the general playing style and need more training time to be able to catch up with the team environment: "There are players who have been called up for 4-5 sessions but are still in the process of adapting. Hopefully, through the next training session, they will improve when training with the seniors."
With a group of seven players currently playing for the HCMC I women's club, coach Mai Duc Chung hopes that after completing the club-level Asian Cup C1, these players will quickly integrate and create overall strength for the team.
Regarding the team's training results over the first two weeks, Coach Mai Duc Chung said the national women's team has completed the first stage of preparation for the 33rd SEA Games. He assessed that the team has tried their best to train, despite unfavorable weather conditions, when facing both heavy rain and harsh sunlight.
“They have made a great effort. The players’ training spirit is very admirable, and this will be an important factor to help the team achieve the best results at the upcoming SEA Games,” said Mr. Mai Duc Chung.
Coach Mai Duc Chung said the team has made clear progress in strengthening their physical strength and improving their coordination on the field. On November 1, the Vietnamese women's team had a practice match with HCMC Women's Club I and won 3-2. According to coach Mai Duc Chung, the purpose of the match was to help the players practice, gain experience and test tactics.
In particular, the HCMC I women's team has the participation of a number of foreign players, helping the team get used to a physical playing style - a necessary thing when SEA Games 33 may have teams with naturalized players. Despite the victory, Mr. Mai Duc Chung said that the team still has many points to overcome, especially in passing, moving and communicating on the field. He said: "We still have to improve a lot in terms of tactics. The upcoming SEA Games will be very fierce, so the whole team must improve more in each training session."
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will leave for Japan for training from November 20. Before that, the team will have 3 more practice matches with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club and two amateur football teams from Bac Ninh and Son Tay in the last 2 weeks of training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
